You are fast, but the Careers have trained their whole lives for this and are faster. An arrow hits your shoulder, but even with your injuries, you somehow manage to dodge their other attacks as you run as fast as you can from the Cornucopia.
Once you are safe enough, to set down your knife and your food and open the backpack. Inside the backpack is a sleeping bag, a matchbox, some wood, a hat, gloves, some crackers and an empty flask of water.
As night falls, you look up into the sky and see that twelve tributes have died at the Cornucopia. Four Careers are still alive. You look for extra cover, but it seems the Gamemakers have been extra cruel this year and you only find snow and ice. You are forced to stay out in the open. You put on the hat and gloves and zip yourself up into the sleeping bag, but even with these extra supplies, it's still freezing and you're worried that you might not make it until morning.
