Great Days

Ben and I were getting ready for bed. My siblings and their kids had left a couple of minutes ago. Apparently during the time I was gone, they just ate pizza and watched football. Diego and Ray had helped Ben get in contact with the courthouse before they closed and was able to set the date for tomorrow at 2 pm. After we all ate, my family
helped finish setting up the furniture and putting away a majority of our belongings where they should be before they left.

"Ben?" I hesitantly said, sitting on my side of the bed.

"Yeah." He had turned off the lights of the room, letting the lamp on his nightstand illuminate the room with a soft yellow glow.

"How would you feel if we started our family plan earlier than expected?" I nervously fiddled the pregnancy test hidden in my lap.

"Like start a family soon?" Ben sat on his side of the bed. I nodded. A small smile grew on his lips. "I wouldn't mind, we'll be married tomorrow and I'll have a good paying job to support us. Why? Do you want to start having kids soon?"

"Well..." I glanced at the test in my hands. The pink plastic cap catching Ben's eye. He furrowed his brows in curiosity. I showed him the tests, making sure he can see the pink lines. "I may need to set up an appointment soon."

"Wait." Ben blinked rapidly, as he pointed to the test. His lips started to tug upwards as realization hit. "That's-wait, are you? No fucking way, are you pregnant?"

"According to this test, yes I am." I bit my lip to try and hide my excitement. "We're going to have a baby, Hotshot."

"Holy shit." Ben crawled over the bed to kneel beside me. He grabbed my hands that held the pregnancy test as he stared at it in awe. His eyes glistened as he looked up at me. A grin overtook his features. "Sweetheart, we're going to be parents?"

"We're going to be parents." I nodded, now beaming up at him. Ben quickly enveloped me into a hug, pulling me close to his chest. I let out a laugh as I noticed how excited he was. Ben pressed his lips against mine.  "Lila helped me set up an appointment for next Monday."

"I'll try to be there, I don't know if I can with me starting this new job in two days." Ben told me. I moved round to where my back was against his chest and my head was laying on his shoulder to look up at him. Ben laced our fingers together. "When would you like to tell your family about the good news?"

"Debating if we should do it at the dinner tomorrow or wait until after a few appointments to see how the baby is doing." I thought aloud. "I want to make sure our baby is healthy and how far along I am."

"Then we can wait a few appointments then." Ben rubbed his thumb of the back of my hand. "I guess it's a good thing we got an apartment with an extra room."

"But that's supposed to be your office for the days you can work from home." I furrowed my brows. "Won't you have meetings?"

"I can always do those in the living room or something. I would rather give that room to our baby and have it as a nursery." Ben explained. "It's an easy fix. Now, how about we get some sleep? We can plan more things for the baby after our wedding, yeah?"
