The next morning dawned with a subdued sense of unease hanging over the residence. As the first rays of sunlight filtered through the curtains, the group prepared for breakfast, each person reflecting on the events of the previous night in their own way.
Itachi made his way to Sasuke's room before breakfast, his expression serious. Knocking lightly on the door, he entered to find Sasuke already dressed and preparing for the day.
"Itachi," Sasuke greeted, noticing the concerned look on his brother's face.
"I need to talk to you about last night," Itachi began, his tone carrying a hint of urgency. "What happened between you and Sakura in the bathroom?"
Sasuke's lips curled into a smirk, though he chose not to elaborate. "Restoring honor and doing what was needed," he replied nonchalantly, avoiding a direct answer.
Itachi's eyes narrowed slightly. "That's not what I'm asking about. I want to know if everything went okay—if there were any issues."
Sasuke's smirk remained, though he remained silent on the specifics. Itachi's gaze hardened as he continued, "I advise you to stay out of such matters moving forward. If you get too involved, it could cost you more than you're willing to pay."
Sasuke nodded, understanding the gravity of his brother's words. "It's fine. It was a one-time thing. I won't let it happen again."
Satisfied with Sasuke's response, Itachi gave a curt nod and left the room, leaving Sasuke to finish his preparations for breakfast.
Downstairs, the breakfast table was already set. Kizashi, Mebuki, and the rest of the group gathered around, their conversations filled with the usual morning pleasantries. As everyone settled into their seats, Kizashi took a moment to address Sasuke.
"Thank you for handling the situation last night," Kizashi said, his voice sincere. "It's appreciated."
Sasuke offered a polite nod. "It was necessary."
The other parents, curious about the details, began to ask questions. Mebuki inquired, "What exactly happened last night? We heard bits and pieces but nothing concrete."
Kizashi took a deep breath before providing a brief overview. "A man got too aggressive with Sakura. Sasuke intervened, and the situation was dealt with swiftly. Sakura is safe, and that's what matters."
The room grew quiet as the details sunk in, the gravity of the situation evident in their expressions. The conversation shifted to more mundane topics as everyone tried to process the information and move past the events of the previous night.
Kizashi then redirected the discussion. "On a different note, I've received more intelligence regarding the Senju family. We need to arrange a meeting to discuss the details and plan our next steps. I've already asked Shisui and Jiraiya to join Asuma Sarutobi in looking into the matter further."
At the mention of Asuma Sarutobi, Itachi's eyes widened slightly in recognition. "Asuma Sarutobi? Isn't he one of the guards we saw when we arrived?"
Kizashi nodded, a hint of approval in his eyes at Itachi's sharp memory. "Indeed he is. The Sarutobi have been working with us for some time now."
Curiosity piqued, Minato leaned forward. "How long have the Sarutobi been involved with your family, Kizashi?"
"They came to join and protect us a few years after Sakura was born," Kizashi replied, his tone measured. "It was a complex situation. Hiruzen was in some trouble at the time, and this arrangement proved beneficial for both parties."
