After a while, having some food that was packed in the bags, Avery got up and went to her bag to retrieve the keys for the bus, but her search proved fruitless. Frustration crept into her voice as she asked, "Who has the keys?"The group exchanged uneasy glances, each person looking at the others with a mix of confusion and concern. After a tense moment of silence, a boy named Hades spoke up, breaking the quiet. "I saw Nora with the keys last," he said.
Sophia's irritation was palpable as she snapped, "What is this bus number anyway?"
"It's number 13," Grace replied, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
Sophia's eyes widened as she processed the information. "Wait, we're on the wrong bus!" she exclaimed. "I only had the keys for buses numbered 3, 5, and 23. Not 13."
A mix of frustration and panic spread through the group. Arthur threw up his hands in exasperation. "Shit man, why do we always end up messing things up? But how did we end up on this bus, then?"
Desperate for answers, Avery turned to Arthur. "Do you have the key for bus 13?"
Arthur nodded, pulling out a key from his pocket. "Yes, it was labeled '13' on the key."
Sophia's frustration bubbled over. "Show it to me," she demanded.
Arthur handed the key over, and Sophia examined it closely. She noticed something critical. "Dude, you should've checked more carefully. The key's label is misleading. There's tape on it, and although it says '13,' it's actually '23' underneath."
Sophia's voice was laced with annoyance as she pointed out the mistake. "We've been on the wrong bus the entire time. If we don't fix this, we're going to be stuck here with no way to get to our actual destination."
Avery's expression mirrored the group's growing concern. "We need to get this sorted out quickly. If we don't find the right bus, we're in serious trouble."
The group fell into a flurry of activity, their earlier composure shattered by the realization of their predicament.
After having some food packed in their bags, the group sat quietly, trying to gather their thoughts. Arthur, feeling the weight of his mistake, sat down with his head hung low, mentally kicking himself for not checking the bus number more carefully. The atmosphere in the bus was tense, with everyone lost in their own thoughts, wondering how they'd get out of this situation.
Avery, who had been sitting beside Sophia, suddenly perked up as an idea popped into her head. "I have an idea!" she announced, her eyes lighting up with determination.
Grace, who had grown used to Avery's impulsive ideas, immediately voiced her concern. "What is it now? I hope it's not something stupid."
Avery shook her head, a grin spreading across her face. "No, don't worry, it's not. It's actually a good one this time."
Sophia, trusting Avery's instincts despite the situation, urged her on. "Okay, tell us the plan," she said, leaning forward slightly. She knew that if Avery had an idea, it was worth hearing out.
Avery pointed upwards, directing everyone's attention to the ceiling of the bus. "This bus has a hatch-door up there," she said, indicating the small emergency exit on the roof. "So if one of us climbs up there and throws something to distract the zombies, the rest of us can sneak out of the bus and make our way to bus number 23."
The group exchanged glances, considering the plan. It seemed risky, but it was the best idea they had so far. Arthur, still feeling guilty, raised a practical concern. "That's a good plan, but bus 23 isn't exactly close, and Sophia's leg is in no condition to walk that distance."
