"Every Moment Counts"
KYLE'S POV
🤙
The next morning, I found myself awake earlier than usual, my mind buzzing with thoughts of Sheilah. I couldn't stop thinking about her—how she smiled when she was focused, how she lit up when she laughed, and how being around her made everything else fade away. I couldn’t wait to see her again.
On my way to school, I stopped by her favorite bakery to pick up some breakfast. I knew she loved their croissants, and I wanted to surprise her with something small to start her day off right. It was a simple gesture, but every little thing I did for Sheilah felt important.
When I got to school, I spotted her waiting by the entrance, just like she always did. My heart did that familiar skip, and I quickened my pace, eager to be near her.
“Morning, beautiful,” I said, handing her the bakery bag with a grin. “Thought you might like a little treat to start your day.”
Sheilah’s eyes lit up as she peeked inside the bag. “Kyle, you didn’t have to do this.”
“I wanted to,” I replied, loving the way her face softened with appreciation. “Anything to see you smile.”
She blushed, and I couldn’t help but feel proud of myself. It was such a small thing, but making her happy was all I ever wanted. As we walked to class, I couldn’t stop myself from wrapping an arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer. It felt natural, like she belonged there.
We found a quiet spot to sit before class started, and Sheilah pulled out the croissant, taking a bite with a pleased hum. “This is perfect. Thank you, Kyle.”
I smiled, watching her enjoy it. “Anything for my baby girl.”
The morning passed in a blur, with me stealing glances at her whenever I could. During breaks, we found each other, whether it was in the hallway or outside on a bench, just to be together. I loved how she made even the simplest moments feel special. Every time she laughed or leaned into me, I felt like I was exactly where I was meant to be.
At lunch, we found our usual spot under the big oak tree in the school courtyard. I sat down first, and before I knew it, Sheilah was nestled up against me, her head resting on my shoulder. I wrapped my arm around her, holding her close, and it felt like nothing else mattered.
“This is nice,” she murmured, closing her eyes as she relaxed into me. “I could stay like this forever.”
I smiled, pressing a soft kiss to the top of her head. “I wouldn’t mind that.”
We sat there for a while, not saying much, just enjoying each other’s presence. It was moments like these that made me realize how deeply I loved her—how much I wanted to be with her, to take care of her, to make her feel safe and cherished. I couldn’t imagine my life without her in it.
As the afternoon wore on, I found myself daydreaming about our future. I pictured us spending more days like this, maybe even finding a place of our own someday, where we could have all the time in the world to be together. The thought made my heart swell with happiness.
Later, after school, we decided to go for a walk in the nearby park. The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm golden light over everything. The air was cool, but not too cold, and I took the opportunity to hold her hand as we strolled along the path.
We didn’t talk much at first, just enjoying the quiet of the evening. But as we walked, I noticed Sheilah seemed a bit lost in thought.
“What’s on your mind?” I asked gently, giving her hand a squeeze.
Sheilah looked up at me, a small smile on her lips. “I was just thinking about how lucky I am to have you.”
Her words caught me off guard, and I felt a rush of emotion. “I’m the lucky one, Sheilah. You’re everything to me.”
She stopped walking and turned to face me, her eyes searching mine. “Do you really mean that?”
I nodded, stepping closer to her. “More than anything. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and I’ll never take that for granted.”
She smiled softly, and before I knew it, she was in my arms, holding me as tightly as I was holding her. I could feel her heartbeat against mine, and it was like everything else faded away. In that moment, I knew there was nothing I wouldn’t do for her.
“I love you, Kyle,” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
My heart soared, and I pulled back just enough to look into her eyes. “I love you too, Sheilah. So much.”
We stood there, wrapped up in each other, as the world around us continued to move. But for me, time had stopped. All that mattered was Sheilah, and the love we shared. I knew, deep down, that this was just the beginning of something incredible. Every moment with her was a gift, and I couldn’t wait to see what the future held for us.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the park, I leaned down and kissed her softly, pouring every bit of my love into that one, simple act. And in that kiss, I promised her everything—my heart, my soul, my forever.
