LyraI guess asking to spend a nice night with some old friends was too much to ask for, at least for me it is. Because instead of laughing and talking about old times, I'm sitting on a wooden roof with the stars as my only company. Stars were a comfort from home, these ones were different but I always could look up and find where I needed to go because of them. Staring at the stars was always peaceful.
That was until a vampire decided to heave himself up here with me and make me seriously wish I was still holed up in that abandoned hot springs.
Katsu smirked and glanced up at the stars. "It's a lovely night tonight."
Sighing, I might as well entertain this, I don't think he's planning on going anywhere. Especially when he sat himself down and got comfy. "It is, I thought it would have been colder. What's the final decision?"
"They decided to go with the moron's idea, against both your and my advice. It's really not a good idea and neither side are going to play nice. All for the good of the economy is what I last heard." I wasn't surprised at the knowledge that Katsu agreed with me, he seemed as though he didn't want the unnecessary bloodshed.
"Are you going back to report to your king?"
He nodded. "I am, according to lord Taron he's got someone to report to Asami as well."
"That would probably be Salzen."
"You're dark eyed friend that wouldn't come inside?"
"Yeah, that's him. I would stay away from him if I were you, he's got a lot of issues with vampires."
"Same as you?" Katsu asked with a raised brow.
I snorted. "No. Salzen has had many decades to move on from his trauma involving your kind, I've had about six years to try and work through mine. His story isn't mine to tell."
"What's yours then?"
"I'll tell you depending on how tomorrow goes."
"Oh? So I get to see you some more tomorrow?"
Chuckling, I nodded. "Unfortunately, you will."
He cocked his head at me, his brows furrowing. "That sounded pretty ominous."
It was. The downfall of being told something bad was going to happen, all because I made a big mistake so many years ago and I'm still finding new ways of being punished for it.
"That was a sad look, tomorrow looks pretty bleak but I don't think things will go that badly. I actually came up here to ask you something. How do you know so much about vampires? You seemed pretty knowledgeable about them, more so than even I am."
I sighed and stared up at the stars for a moment, rarely changing and always were the were supposed to be. "I spent a decade amongst your kind, I learned many things about them. Good things and bad things."
"From your tone, I'm guessing that those bad things were really bad? You're a wolven right? Shouldn't you be with a pack or something like that?"
Yeah, I should be. "If I was normal, then yeah I would be with a pack right now. Mated to an Alpha and probably have a few pups running around, but I wasn't raised like that and no pack would ever take me in. I was raised in solitary and my kind wants nothing to do with me, they fear what I am. I was born a lone wolf and that's probably how I'll go out." I explained to him.
Katsu sighed. "Fear is powerful, I'm sorry that they fear you, is it because of you being raised alone?"
I shrugged, that was part of the reason, but there were a few other issues that caused bigger problems. "Was that fledgling vampire alright when he got back to camp?"
