Jungkook had already turned away, slipping into the shadows at the end of the alley, his figure barely visible in the dim light. Y/N stood there for a moment, her mind racing. She knew this was a dangerous situation, but something inside her wouldn’t let her walk away. There was something about the way he had said her name, the confusion in his eyes, that made her feel he needed help—even if he didn’t want to admit it.
Making up her mind, Y/N decided to follow him. She quickened her pace, trying to keep her distance but not lose sight of him. Her footsteps echoed softly in the quiet alley as she trailed him, her heart pounding with every step.
After a few minutes, Jungkook seemed to sense that he was being followed. He stopped abruptly and turned around, his eyes narrowing when he saw her behind him.
“Why are you following me?” he demanded, his voice low and edged with annoyance.
Y/N hesitated, but she didn’t back down. “I just want to help you,” she said, trying to keep her tone calm and reassuring. “You’re out here alone, and I don’t think you have anywhere to go. Let me help you, Jungkook.”
“I told you, I don’t need your help,” he snapped, frustration clear in his voice. “Go home. Leave me alone.”
But Y/N wasn’t easily deterred. She could see the exhaustion in his eyes, the weariness in his posture. He was running on empty, and she couldn’t bring herself to abandon him to the streets.
“Look,” she said, softening her tone, “you don’t have to trust me, but at least let me get you something to eat. You look like you haven’t had a decent meal in days.”
Jungkook’s expression remained hard, but the mention of food made him pause. Y/N seized the opportunity, stepping closer.
“There’s a 24-hour restaurant just a few blocks from here,” she offered. “We can get something to eat, no strings attached. And if you want to leave after that, I won’t stop you.”
He stared at her for a long moment, as if weighing his options. Finally, with a resigned sigh, he gave a slight nod. “Fine,” he muttered, turning back toward the direction she had mentioned.
Y/N led the way, keeping a careful distance as they walked. The restaurant was quiet at this hour, with only a few late-night patrons scattered around. They found a booth in the corner, and Y/N let Jungkook order whatever he wanted, not caring about the cost.
As they waited for the food, Y/N watched him carefully. He was still on edge, his eyes darting around the room as if expecting trouble at any moment. She could tell that he wasn’t used to this—being in a normal setting, eating at a restaurant like a regular person.
When the food arrived, Jungkook ate quickly, as if he hadn’t had a proper meal in a long time. Y/N didn’t push him to talk, letting him eat in peace. After a while, when he seemed a bit more relaxed, she spoke up again.
“You don’t have to go back to the facility tonight,” she said, her voice gentle. “If you need a place to stay, I have an extra room at my apartment. It’s not far from here. You can stay there tonight, and I promise I won’t tell anyone where you are.”
Jungkook looked at her with a mixture of suspicion and confusion. “Why would you do that?” he asked, his tone cautious.
“Because I want to help you,” Y/N replied honestly.
“You don’t have to believe me, and I understand if you’re suspicious. But I see someone who’s been through a lot, someone who’s tired and probably doesn’t know who to trust. You don’t have to make any decisions right now. Just… let me give you a safe place to rest tonight. We’ll figure the rest out later.”
