It made Hyunjin's skin crawl.
He sat down at the already plated food and lifted his fork. Changbin was digging in already, and Minho and Jisung were complimenting Felix on the food. Felix simply blushed and looked down at his own plate, which looked like it was made for a bird compared to the three alphas.
"Hyunjin?" Felix turned to him.
"What?" Hyunjin said gruffly.
"Is it... do you like it?" Felix seemed so unsure of himself. He was seeking Hyunjin's, an alpha's, approval.
"I've had better," he replied. He ignored the way Felix's face fell and tried to ignore his inner alpha, who was ripping him a new one. You dick! We love it! Tell him we love it. This is the best meal you've had in forever, you giant prick. Now look. You've hurt his feelings. Asshole. Smell that? That's his sadness. How could you treat the mother of your future children like that?
Hyunjin sat back and ate while watching Minho, Changbin, and Jisung give Felix compliments upon compliments about the food. Felix let each one roll off of him, not believing them. The only opinion that mattered to him was Hyunjin's, and Hyunjin hated it. He picked at his food until he could find a good time to escape to the kitchen, carrying his plate with him. He scraped the food into the garbage disposal and rinsed his plate off to stick it in the dishwasher.
He listened to the conversation in the dining room. Even though he couldn't hear the words very well, the voices were angry and hostile, and they were raising. Just as he was about to step closer, a hand landed on his back, making him shriek. It was only Jisung.
He placed his hand over his heart and stared at the blonde boy. "You scared the shit out of me!" he squeaked. Less than a second later, three alphas appeared, looking ready to fight to the death if they had to.
"Are you okay?" Hyunjin asked, eyes raking up and down Felix's body, making sure he was fine. Felix nodded slowly.
"Jisung just scared me, is all," he said, trying to regulate his breathing. Minho still looked around the kitchen for any possible threats before nodding. Hyunjin kept his eyes on Felix. "Really, I'm fine. You guys can go and relax now."
"We want to help clean up, actually." Changbin said, nudging Minho.
"Yeah, of course. It's the least we could do." Minho nodded.
"No, no, I made the mess. Honestly. And you're guests. So, get out." Felix began to shoo them into the living room, even Jisung.
"He's a pushy little thing, isn't he?" Changbin laughed, sitting on the couch. Hyunjin took the armchair, again, and kicked his feet up.
"Cute, though," Jisung provided, looking at Hyunjin.
"And a great cook," Minho said.
Hyunjin groaned. "Seriously. Stop trying to sell me on him. I don't want a mate, and certainly not him. I don't find him attractive in the least bit." It hurt him to lie. Changbin looked uncomfortable all of a sudden, and Minho's face straightened while Jisung looked towards the window.
"Um, I was just coming to ask—" A voice sounded from behind Hyunjin. Of course Felix would hear Hyunjin say those things. "Um, never mind." He retreated back into the kitchen to finish cleaning.
"You fucking idiot," Changbin snapped when Felix was gone. "You are so fucking dumb, good God."
"Hey!" Hyunjin defended himself.
"That was really rude, Hyunjin," Minho shook his head at Hyunjin. "You're being an asshole tonight. You know that?"
"Guys, I'm really happy we're friends and I'm happy that I've given you the right to speak freely to me, but don't forget, I'm going to be pack leader soon, and I might not be so generous with my allowances," Hyunjin growled, growing angry.
