The storm raged on outside while Lucifer sat in his study working on his paperwork. In a way, he was thankful for the rain since it always seemed to settle the house down even if for just a while. Lucifer sat back in his chair with a soft sigh and stretched his limbs, feeling them pop. He stood and grabbed his cup to head for the kitchen to make some tea. As he walked through the house he found it to be fairly quiet. Lucifer walked past Jace's room and paused for a moment, now that he thought about it, he hadn't seen the big guy all day. He knocked on the door and waited but heard nothing on the other side. Strange. Jace usually tells him when he goes somewhere unless he's napping somewhere else in the house, which was also possible. But even then Jace would almost always ask Lucifer to nap on his couch in his study to keep from being disturbed by the others. And as usual, Lucifer would always say yes. He found it becoming increasingly difficult to tell the other man 'no' the longer he was here in the Devildom.
As much as he hated to admit it, the human had really grown on him and he found himself being drawn to the other man. Lucifer sighed softly and continued to the kitchen to make more tea so he could get back to work. As he waited for the water in the kettle to boil he heard the front door swing open and shut. Curious as to who would have been out in such a bad storm he peaks his head out and walks to the foyer. To his surprise, it was no one other than Jace. Jace walked in absolutely soaked from head to toe in freezing rain. His tan skin had paled and he was shivering with his teeth softly chattering. He had no idea it was supposed to rain today and was out with Simeon in town. Fortunately, he was on his way back when it started raining but he didn't expect to get practically flooded. He saw Lucifer peek his head around the doorway and he gave him a sheepish smile. "Uh... Hey." He said as Lucifer's eyes widened seeing that his clothes were so wet that they were dripping water onto the floor.
The second he saw Jace standing there completely soaked from the storm outside he rushed over and began to fuss over him. Lucifer could feel the chill in Jace's skin as he touched him. " Jace! You're freezing cold!" He exclaimed before grabbing his arm and began to drag him off down the hall. "Use Asmo's bathroom and get into a warm bath, I will bring you some clothes." He said leaving no room for argument and headed to Jace's room to get him some clothes. How could he be so stupid?! Sure, Jace wasn't the brightest man but did he not think to check the weather before going out? Lucifer sighed heavily and shook his head as he grabbed a shirt and some sweatpants. This human was going to be the death of him one day. Jace peeled his cold wet clothes from his body before placing them in Asmo's sink so they didn't create a puddle of water. He used some of the other demon's bubble baths to make suds in the steaming water.
Usually, Asmo never let anyone use his bathroom but he had given Jace permission to use it whenever he wanted, though he wasn't always pleased that Jace never wanted him to join. Jace stepped in and sighed softly, though the water wasn't too hot it felt like it against his freezing skin. Upon hearing a knock on the door Jace quickly sat down so the bubbles would cover him. He grunted and his body tingled in pain as he submerged himself so suddenly. A moment later Lucifer opened the door with a pair of fresh clothes in his hand and placed them down on the counter. He turned to face Jace with his arms crossed and a disappointed expression. Jace could understand why Lucifer seemed so annoyed, after all, he could end up sick because of this. The last thing Lucifer needed was for one of their human exchange students to end up sick over something as trivial as the weather. "Thank you... Sorry man, I didn't know it was supposed to rain today or I would have brought an umbrella." Jace explained as he sunk down lower into the tub with an apologetic smile. He already knew that Lucifer was about to lecture him.
He simply stared at Jace for a moment before sighing softly and pinching the bridge of his nose. "Honestly Jace... you need to be more careful. You know how easily you humans get sick. Do you want to end up bedridden?" He said sternly before looking at Jace again. "You have your D.D.D., you can look up the weather anytime. Just use it." He grumbled out as he turned around to walk out but paused at the door for a moment. "Just... be more careful next time. I'll have tea made in my study if you would like some." He said before walking out of the bathroom to give Jace some privacy. He really hoped that Jace wouldn't end up sick from this. If that were to happen Lucifer would feel horrible for not being able to prevent it and he didn't want to see his human in that state.
