I was just 15 years old when I first wrote the story of Lucas Mendoza. Back at the time, this story was titled Delano. I had always been captivated by stories that dared to explore taboo subjects, often shunned by a society that prefers to turn a blind eye to many harsh realities. As a naïve young writer, addicted by the deep emotions these stories stirred within me, opening doors which projected me into dimensions that stretched the bounds of my imagination beyond the borders of what was deemed possible. Despite the strict limitations on discussions of gender and sexuality in my country, I still risked diving passionately into these tales, fascinated by how they tested my level of ignorance of the unknown world.
I still remember this day; I was washing dishes – a weekend routine – an idea suddenly struck me. Lucas Mendoza at the time Delano sprang to life in my imagination at that very moment. I couldn't resist the urge to put these thoughts to paper, using the tools I had at the time: a notebook and a pen that I kept carefully guarded among other stories I was writing.
Unfortunately, I had a good friend of mine who used to tell me good days wouldn't exist if bad days didn't, it had no effect to my hearing but as time went on, I learn to understand this the bitter way. one day, on returning home from school, exhausted, I went to the secret place where I hid my precious notebooks – a usual habit of mine. To my dismay, I discovered that everything had been ransacked. My mother had gone through my room, read my writings, and confiscated all my notebooks. She judged my work harshly, rejecting not only my writing ambitions, which she belittled, but also the content of my stories, which she deemed contrary to the values of our society and our religion. She forced me to burn all my notebooks, reminding me that I would NEVER BE A WRITER and that my future was already predetermined, like that of my brothers and sisters. That day, as I watched my notebooks turn to ashes, I felt a part of my identity disintegrate. I buried my dreams in those ashes.
Eleven years later, the bitterness an emptiness left by that unhappy youth has continued to haunt me. Tired of suppressing my feelings in favor of an ideal that does not represent me, I decided to start back what I stopped years back. Give back life to those stories who once died, and let my passion give its last word. I start as an amateur, who worked alone on this book difficult to share openly with friends and relatives or external parties due to the area been against all that seems too open minded often considered as a deviation to what should be normal. I continue to write. My greatest references and learnings come from what I could find online, through videos, documentaries and most importantly literary works my best novelist always Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie. Hoping that my debut in Wattpad will open doors to critiques that will be as beneficial as the tools that allowed me to rewrite this story.
What I can guarantee you is that this story is more original and more powerful than the one from the past. I wrote it with a newfound rage and emotion, with a maturity that refuses to confine my mind to any restrictions. At the beginning of the reading, you may think you understand where I am heading to, but before you know it, you will be caught up in a whirlwind of emotions, moving from sadness to joy, from hatred to love, and vice versal.
In my upcoming stories – for I do not intend to stop here – I WILL ALWAYS SUPRISE YOU. Just when you think you have figured it all out, you will realize you have grasped nothing yet. This is a hallmark of my writing style.
Finally,
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read me.
Thank you for giving this book a TRIAL.
And I sincerely hope this is the beginning of a shared journey that will bind us through time.
May you find great enjoyments and suprise in your reading !!!
LOVE YOU
