Lux Erzsebet couldn't remember what the sun felt like.
The heat she had once bathed herself in had since swallowed her whole and spat her right back out, resulting in an eternity in the dark. In the cold. In the night. Centuries had gone by now in rapid succession, revolutions fought, kings and queens beheaded, common ideas torn down with new ones propped up as fact instead.
After a while, she didn't bother keeping up. She'd lost track of enough in the years of isolation, with only the company of the other vampires who had taken her in to help pass the time, replace old memories with new. The Coven was her family now. The vampire that led them all, the headstrong and charismatic Philip, was the one she went to her knees for now, not Christ. She didn't need anything else, and so she let the Lux of before slip out from beneath her slender fingers.
Her appearance was the first to go. Delicate features that had once been so striking to her morphed in her mind, a memory she couldn't quite hold on to, no matter how much she clawed at it. Just like everything else around her, the exact mold of what she would see in the mirror was fleeting.
