The sun rises high in the sky, its warm rays filtering through the curtains, waking Victor to an empty bed. He stretches, blinking against the brightness, and feels the familiar absence beside him. As he swings his legs over the side, the floor feels cool beneath his feet. After quickly getting ready, he heads into the kitchen, where he finds Ayiana sitting at the table, sipping her coffee and scrolling through her phone. Ayiana and victor have been together for 3 years and a few months ago they made the big decision to move in with eachother.
"Good morning, beautiful," Victor greets, a smile spreading across his face as he leans down to plant a kiss on her cheek. "Good morning, handsome," she replies, looking up with a warm smile. Victor's gaze drifts to the clock on the wall, and he knows it's time to get their daughter moving. "Angela? Time to get a move on!" he calls out, his voice echoing through the house. "Ange, you've got 20 minutes!"
He walks down the hall toward Angela's room, knocking gently on the door. "I'm serious, kiddo! Let's go!" A muffled reply comes from behind the door. "Okay, okay! I'm getting up!"
Victor chuckles softly to himself, feeling a mix of love and exasperation. He returns to the kitchen, leaning against the counter as he watches Ayiana. "Any plans for today?" he asks, curious about her agenda.
" just work" ayiana answers as she gets up. "Any plans after work" victor asks as he begins kissing on her neck making Ayiana chuckle. Just as their lips almost meet, Angela bursts into the kitchen with a disgusted expression. "Dad, that's gross!" she exclaims, making them break apart and stifling their laughter. "Good morning, Angie," Ayiana says brightly, her smile returning as she shifts her focus to Angela. "Morning," Angela replies, rolling her eyes but unable to hide her own grin. "Can't you two save the mushy stuff for later?" Angela question as she plops down at the table, still shaking her head at her dad. Victor places a hand on his chest dramatically. "Mushy? This is love, not mushiness." He says making putting a plate of bacon and eggs infront of her.
" Alright Hurry up and finish your breakfast. Slept in past my alarm." Victor says as ayiana begins to fix his clothes. "You can have it." Victor assures his daughter but Angela pushes the plate away. "You eat it. I'm not eating meat anymore." Angela says making them look at her confused. " what are you talking about?" Victor asks confused before realization hits him. " Oh, it's that documentary you watched, right? Gave you bad dreams like I told you it would?" He questions rhetorically.
"Poor little piggies. I mean, think about it. You're just enjoying your day, chilling in a mud bath, and then... bzzz And then... swish. All 'cause some farmer got sick of eating oatmeal," Angela says with disgust making Victor and Ayiana chuckle. "So, ice cream for breakfast?" Victor suggests, raising an eyebrow playfully. "Fine with me," Angela replies with a shrug, clearly amused. "Don't promote that, Victor, You know breakfast is the most important meal of the day." Ayiana says as she walks over to the fridge and takes the cearal off the top."You got that math thing today, right?" Victor asks turning to his daughter. "Math Champ Challenge. It's tomorrow." Angela answers before beginning to bite her nails. "Don't bite your nails." Victor orders making her stop. "Um, I was wondering if I could do homework at Katherine's today?" Angela asks shyly making Aiyana smile. "Like, go home with her?" Victor asks making her nod. "Her dad can bring me home." Angela explains.
"Well, I was thinking that we could just do what we always do. You know, I come get you after school, you come to the studio, do your homework, after Aiyana comes from work we spend time together..." Victor says as Aiyana gives him a look."Oh please let her go have fun with her friend. As long as there isn't guys right?" Aiyana says winking at Angela who giggles. "Right. Won't be any guys." Angela says making Victor give a hesitant look.
"I mean, I do have friends, you know." Angela adds making Victor sigh and nod. "Yeah, I know you have friends. You know, bbut what I'm saying is, like..." victor says as he picks up a piece of bacon but Angela takes it from him. "Poor little piggies!" Angela yells as she runs away. "..I'm your friend." He finishes making Aiyana chuckle. "Victor let her have fun." Aiyana says making her way to her fiancé. "But—" Victor says but Aiyana shakes her head. "She will be there a couple of hours. What's the worst that can happen?" Aiyana says making Victor sigh but end the end nod. "Angela, we don't have time for this." Victor says as he collects the dishes and puts them in the sink.
"Very sweet. Very funny. Somebody sees one documentary." Victor says as Angela slams the door making Aiyana shake her head. "You know, it's very mature. Angela. Damn it. Ange." Victor says walking over to her room. "Okay. We're doing this. Angela Renée Fielding. This is not a game. It's time to go now. Right now." Victor demands as he knocks on the door. Aiyana watches as victor enters his daughters room and shakes her head at their antics.
...
"Hey, Angela! Tell your dad I'll meet him at the gym," Stuart calls out, prompting Angela to look up and wave. "You got it, Mr. Mullen!" Angela replies as she makes her way to the car. "You can tell him yourself," Victor says, stepping out of the house just in time.
"Hey, what's up?" Stuart greets, waving as he approaches. Aiyana finally comes out, her heart fluttering slightly at the sight of him. "Hey, Aiyana!" Stuart calls, making her wave back, with a gentle smile on her face. "Hey," she responds, her voice soft as she walks to catch up with her family. "What?" Angela questions, noticing her father's intense gaze on her.
"Where'd you get this?" Victor asks taking the scarf from Angela. "Oh, I, um, got it at the store with my allowance." Angela lies as Ayiana watches the two. "Don't lie to me now." Victor says sternly making Angela look down and sigh. " I found it with Mom's stuff. Just thought it was nice." Angela admits. " Your mom's stuff? Or through your dad's stuff? 'Cause I think I remember where I put it." Victor says getting into the car as Aiyana looks away uncontrollably. "It's her mothers why not let her have it?" Aiyana questions as Angela nods in agreement. "Aiyana we've talked about this okay" victor starts out . Aiyana sighs, feeling the weight of the moment. "I'm going to work," she says, forcing herself to sound casual as she begins to gather her things.
"Aiyana," Victor calls as she walks up to him, planting a kiss on his cheek before she leaves. Aiyana walks to the her own car and gets in. Angela's actual mother is a hard subject for everyone. He hasn't fully gotten over her mother's death, even as he tries to focus on his future with Aiyana. Aiyana bites her lip, feeling the familiar ache of being in the middle.
I'm finally done this chapter. It took forever to do.
