She leaned closer, her breath warm against my skin, our lips now just an inch apart. The world seemed to slow down as I could feel the tension crackling between us. Her eyes locked onto mine with an intensity that made my heart race. Time seemed to stand still in that fleeting moment, every heartbeat echoing louder as the space between our lips closed. And then—

Flashback - One Week Ago

The memory of that night lingered in Ling Ling's mind—a week ago, when Dr. Kirk Wisanu's mask had finally slipped. The honeymoon had barely ended when he began to reveal his true self, showing an abusive side that she had never anticipated.

Ling Ling sat at the dining table, staring at the food she had barely touched. The once warm atmosphere of their home now felt cold and hostile. Dr. Kirk, who had been charming and attentive before their wedding, had begun to show a more controlling side. Tonight was no different.

"Why aren't you eating, Ling?" Kirk's voice cut through the silence, sharp and demanding.

"I'm not hungry," she replied quietly, not meeting his eyes.

"You're always not hungry," he snapped, slamming his hand on the table, causing her to flinch. "You're my wife now. You need to start acting like it."

Ling Ling remained silent, her thoughts drifting to the promise she had made so many years ago now felt like a lifeline, a distant hope that kept her grounded.

The argument escalated. Kirk's words grew more venomous, and before she knew it, he had grabbed her arm, pulling her close, his grip painful. "You belong to me, Ling. Don't you forget that."

Ling Ling's eyes burned with unshed tears, but she refused to let them fall. She needed to be strong, not just for herself, but for the promise she had made. She pulled her arm free, backing away, her heart pounding in her chest.

Ling Ling's POV:

She thought to herself, He's just like my father—an abusive, cheating bastard. The flashback to her painful childhood was too vivid, too real, as though it had just happened yesterday. The memories of her father's harsh words, the way he belittled her mother, the way he cheated openly without remorse—all of it came crashing back as Dr. Kirk Wisanu began to reveal his true self. The past and present were blending into a terrifying reality she couldn't escape.

Ling Ling found herself breaking down, tears streaming down her face as she clung to Orm. "It's okay, it's gonna be alright," Orm whispered, her voice a soothing balm against the storm raging inside Ling Ling's heart.

"If you hadn't shown up... I'd probably be stuck with him, just like my mother was..." Ling Ling sniffed, trying to hold back the sobs that threatened to overwhelm her.

Orm's fingers lightly traced the contours of Ling's face, her thumb brushing away the remaining tears. Ling's breath hitched, and she looked up at Orm with eyes that were both vulnerable and longing.

Slowly, as if drawn by an invisible force, Ling leaned in, her lips just brushing against Orm's. The closeness intensified the tension, their breaths mingling in a slow, deliberate dance. Orm's eyes fluttered closed and-......

Orm held her tighter, her voice firm with conviction. "Of course I"ll come, my father's last words was you should find her"

Ling Ling looked up at Orm, seeing a fierce determination in her eyes that brought her a sense of relief she hadn't felt in years. "Don't worry, you should stay here tonight. I don't want you going back to him, not after this. I'll take care of everything. I'll call someone to handle it."

Orm gently guided Ling Ling to a chair, making sure she was settled before pulling out her phone. she then slowly walked outside Her tone was sharp and commanding as she issued orders. "Find me all the information on Dr. Kirk Wisanu. I want to know where he goes, who he meets, and every detail of his life. Do you understand me? You have 10 minutes."

"Yes, ma'am," came the immediate response on the other end of the line.

"Good," Orm said, her voice cold with the promise of retribution.

As Orm returned to Ling Ling's office, she heard the sound of a vase shattering. Her heart leaped into her throat as she ran towards the noise. Bursting into the room, she saw Kirk gripping Ling Ling's wrist with terrifying force, dragging her across the floor like she was nothing more than a possession.

"Let's go home!" Kirk growled, his voice laced with anger and entitlement. Ling Ling struggled against him, trying to push him away, but he was too strong. The terror from her childhood came flooding back—the trauma of her father's cruelty, the endless comparisons, the way he had openly cheated on her mother even in front of her. All those buried memories surfaced, and she felt like a helpless child again.

Seeing the scene before her, something inside Orm snapped. She surged forward, grabbing Kirk's arm with a strength fueled by fury and protectiveness. She pulled Ling Ling away from him, placing herself between them like a shield. "You have no right to hurt her like this!" she yelled, her voice echoing with anger.

Kirk glared at Orm, his expression twisted with rage and confusion. "Who even are you? Who do you think you are? She is my wife—she belongs to me!" His voice was venomous, dripping with entitlement.

Orm squared her shoulders, her gaze unwavering as she stared him down. "Dr. Wisanu, if you don't leave this building right now, I will personally make sure you're dragged out of here. And as for who I am..." She paused, allowing a cold smile to curl her lips. "I'm Orm Kornnaphat."

Kirk's eyes widened slightly, recognition dawning on his face.

Orm didn't give him a chance to talk. "Remember that name, Dr. Wisanu," she said, her voice icy with intent. "Because I will destroy you."

There was a deadly calm in her voice that made Kirk falter, and for the first time, Kirk looked unsure, as if he finally realized something

Orm stepped closer, towering over him, her presence commanding. "Get out, now," she hissed, her eyes blazing with a fury that promised consequences.

Kirk stumbled back, his bravado cracking under the weight of Orm's unyielding gaze. Without another word, he turned and stormed out of the office, his footsteps heavy with frustration and fear.

As the door slammed shut behind him, Orm exhaled, the tension in her body slowly easing. She turned to Ling Ling, her expression softening with concern. "Are you okay?"

Ling Ling nodded, though her body trembled slightly. "I... I didn't think he would actually leave..."

Orm smiled gently, reaching out to brush a tear from Ling Ling's cheek. "He won't be bothering you again. I'll make sure of that."

Ling Ling looked at Orm, a mixture of gratitude and something deeper shining in her eyes. For the first time in a long while, she felt safe. And it was all because of the woman standing before her—the woman who had promised to protect her, and who had just proven she meant every word.

"But tell me orm, why did he look so scared when he heard your name?"
