looking for help 4

Ed's POV:

The moment the fox looked at me, I knew it was Bobo. My cutie system actually thought of shapeshifting to ask for help—impressive! I'm so proud. And the help he brought seems strong too, especially the leader. As I kept watching them, the snake said, "I forgot to tell you my name, ssssss, it's Margret ssssss. I wanted to have a longer conversation with you ssssss, but it's not the time."

Just then, I felt a strong aura surrounding everyone. I was sure it wasn't Margret.

"RAAAWR!" A powerful roar echoed around the cave, so intense that without the barrier, I might have been in real trouble. I didn't even notice when Bobo came to my side, trying to protect me. I turned around and saw a shadow in the far corner of the cave, staring at us—or more precisely, staring at the people Bobo had brought. It didn't seem interested in me at all, which only confirmed that it was trying to protect me.

When Margret responded with an equally terrifying hiss, it felt like she was being coy, like someone getting teased by an old friend.

"Ssssss, what an idiot," Margret hissed. "Since you have company now, there's no need for me to stay ssssss. I'll take that idiot with me ssssss, so don't worry. He doesn't mean any harm; he's just awkward with people ssssss."

'Without you telling me, I could feel it. Thanks, Margret. I don't know if you can hear me,' I thought.

"Okay," a voice suddenly responded with an awkward pause. "I hope we meet again." The voice sounded distant, but strangely, it was clear.

"I'm Edmond, by the way. You can call me Ed," I added.

After a long pause with no response, Margret chuckled, "Ssssss, getting him to say that simple 'okay' was already an achievement ssssss." Then she caressed my cheek and said, "Ssssss, little one, it was my fortune to meet you. Welcome to this world, and don't end up like that ssssss gorilla."

I couldn't help but chuckle; she really couldn't stop badmouthing that person, and it made me curious about who he was. After she finished talking, she slid away towards the shadowy figure in the corner.

'Goodbye, Margret. Goodbye, mister. I hope we meet again,' I said silently.

Just then, Margret stopped, turned around, and said, "See you later, little Edy." After giving the group of people—who were already on their knees—one last look, she disappeared.

Bobo, who couldn't take it anymore, threw himself into my arms, whining and complaining, "I can't believe this! I leave you for less than an hour, and someone's already eyeing you???"

"They just kept me company while I waited for my strong Bobo," I said, trying to cheer him up, knowing how insecure he was about our relationship. "And how did you change your form to a fox? You look so cute and adorable."

Just then, I heard footsteps above me. It was the one I assumed was the leader of the group. "Heroic," I muttered, because that was my first impression of this man—with his strong build, large sword, and that red hair. He looked at me with a shocked face, the same expression his group wore as they followed after him. I gave them a harmless smile, hoping they wouldn't find me suspicious.

They started talking among themselves while the woman examined me. Then, she slowly lifted me up, and they kept talking. The strange thing was, I didn't understand what they were saying. This language wasn't in my dictionary. On our first missions, our first cheat packs included universal language translation, and this one definitely wasn't among them.

When I looked at them, they gave me sad looks. The captain knelt down, patted Bobo, and said something after Bobo made a noise earlier.

'Bobo, do you understand their language?!'

"Ha, yes, host. Well, not everything, but I understand most of it," Bobo replied.

Just then, their voices grew louder again, as if they were arguing about what to do with me.

"************"

"********"

"******************"

I tried to listen, but I still didn't understand. Just as I was about to ask Bobo to translate, the captain came and held me in his arms, like I was some fragile porcelain he was afraid to hurt. It took him a few moments to adjust his hold, and I finally became comfortable.

He looked at me with determined eyes and said something to the others.

"*********************"

"************"

"They're taking you with them," Bobo said. "I think he said—I mean, the one holding you right now—that he will adopt you," he added.

"Oh," I responded.

"What's wrong?" Bobo asked.

"Nothing, but don't they find me suspicious?" I asked, feeling a bit uneasy.

"They did, but I guess they think you're abandoned because you're a mixed breed," Bobo answered.

"A what?"

"A mix between two species—like a human and another creature. It seems like elves, dragons, and others live in this world, and I can guess they're not exactly on friendly terms," said Bobo.

"So they think because I'm a hybrid, I'm not wanted?" I asked, confusion mixed with a hint of old, painful memories surfacing from a long time ago.

Sensing my feelings, Bobo quickly reassured me. "No, no! Maybe they thought your parents couldn't raise you and left you here to protect you. It's not safe for you out there."

"Here alone... Well, wherever they wanted, the boy ended up dead. I couldn't have crossed over here if the host wasn't dead. You know the rules—we can't possess living creatures," I said, my mood turning somewhat melodramatic as I thought about it.

The captain and his group finished their discussion and said something to me. Since I couldn't understand their language, I just kept smiling. It's my best trick to get people to like me—smile and behave as if I don't exist. That's what I learned from my first world, or should I call it my original world?.
