3rd person POV
Just a few hours earlier, Suzune Horikita was aboard a bus, preparing for an impending special exam. While anxiety gnawed at her, she was resolute in proving herself—not only to her brother, Manabu Horikita, but also to Kiyotaka Ayanokōji, who she held as her first friend but she never reached the site for the special exam because she was mysteriously wisped away to the entirely unfamiliar world to her.
The Digital World
When Suzune came to, she was disoriented, her muscles sore from an impact she could hardly remember. She blinked against the brilliant light spilling into the cave. Coughing, she pushed herself into a sitting position and surveyed her surroundings—a cool, damp cavern that stretched before her, the atmosphere thick with an eeriness she couldn't shake.
With her heart pounding in her ears, she cautiously approached the cave's mouth. What lay beyond it? Fragrant forest air flooded her lungs, starkly contrasting the stale scent of the cave. As she stepped outside, her breath caught in her throat.
Before she sprawled a sprawling tapestry of vibrant hues, the beauty was cut short by an unsettling sense of disorientation. She felt exposed, like a piece on a game board without players.
And then, just as despair began to creep into her heart, an unexpected rustling echoed from the underbrush. Suzune froze, a tingling sensation rising at the nape of her neck.
The sound grew louder, and she turned to face the source. A pack of creatures emerged, bipedal mammals with shimmering purple fur and claws that glinted menacingly even in the fading sunlight. They glanced at her with wide, curious eyes, but the moment was fleeting. Before she could react, they lunged forward, snarling with ferocity.
Instinct kicked in. Drawing on the calculated determination she'd honed through years of academic rigor, she sprinted to the side, narrowly avoiding the first creature's attack. Adrenaline surged through her veins as she scrambled through the underbrush, twisting and weaving, her heart hammering with the urgency of the moment.
The creatures were surprisingly fast; their growls rattled the leaves and her nerves as they chased after her, closing in. She darted between trees, searching for a strategy. Running had never been her forte; her strength lay in her mind. But here, outpacing instinct alone wouldn't suffice—she needed to think.
She spotted a heavy branch on the forest floor. In a daring maneuver, she dove, seized the branch, and sprang back up, turning to face her pursuers. As the first purple beasts lunged at her, she threw the branch with all her might, striking it directly in the snout.
Gazimon: "SHIT THAT HURT!"
The creature yelped, reeling backward. Encouraged by her success, Sarune realized she could use this to her advantage. Her focus sharpened, and she devised a quick plan. She would create gaps between her and the attackers, leading them away from the cave.
