"You two get up to anything once i went to bed?" Bev questioned, whilst staring at both Benjamin and I across from her dining table.
I groaned internally before reaching for the glass of orange juice Stuart had poured me minutes before.
"We went to bed. Just like you" I confirmed trying to get Bev to wipe off that weird expression on her face. It was making me feel weird.
"Im sure you did" she giggled reaching for her car keys.
Benjamin and I had only been sitting at the dining table for two minutes. I hadn't even managed to find the energy to make myself a bowl of cereal.
"Ive got to head off for work now but Stuart will drive you two back home around lunch time if thats okay? He has a few errands to run" Bev said cheerfully, looking the exact opposite of how i felt.
That woman's liver must be impenetrable.
"We can just come with you now?" I offered, not knowing if I could survive a bumpy car ride.
"I think it might be best if you stay here and get some food down you"
Bev looked at me from head to toe.
"And maybe grab a shower, love."
I didn't even see the point in begging her to let me leave now. I knew the moment I stood up I'd probably throw up.
"Right lovies i'm off now. I'll text you both on my lunch break to make sure your both feeling a bit better."
"Thanks for everything Bev. see you soon" I replied as she walked out of the dining room towards her front door.
I looked over to see Benjamin with his eyes half opened and his hair that was defying gravity.
"Yeah—- thanks" Benjamin groaned.
I thought I was feeling worse than him when we both woke up but I think it was fair to say the sickness hit him later but much harder.
He hadn't said a single word since we had walked down to grab breakfast. i f i was being honest, seeing his hand shaking whilst reaching for his glass of orange juice almost made me feel sorry for him.
"We'll be back soon." Stuart yelled and suddenly the front door slammed shut.
Silence.
I stood up slowly and headed towards the kitchen, if we were going to have to sit together and have breakfast i couldnt sit and watch Mr.Pathetic shake like he had major withdrawals.
"Where are you going?" a whiney yet quiet voice mumbled.
If i werent feeling so shit i would have laughed.
"Getting you this" I shoved a metal straw in his glass of orange juice.
Benjamin's eyes opened a little more, his fingers playing with the straw in his glass.
"You got me a straw?"
"If i have to eat breakfast with you i don't want the chance of your glass falling and orange juice spilling over both of us. At least with the straw i don't need to watch you shaking uncontrollably."
"I'm not used to prosecco hangovers. I'm normally a beer or rum kinda-"
"-stop talking about alcohol makes me want to throw up." I warned.
Either he literally couldn't muster up the energy to respond verbally, Benjamin instead just grinned as he sipped his orange juice.
