Ekko stood on the rooftop, watching as Jinx disappeared into the night, her figure swallowed by the shadows of Zaun. His breath was still coming fast, his heart pounding from the confrontation. The gemstone was safely tucked away, but his mind wasn’t on the prize—it was on her.

“Why did it have to be you?” he muttered to himself, the weight of the night pressing down on him. His thoughts were a tangled mess of anger, frustration, and something else he didn’t want to acknowledge.

As he watched her fade into the distance, something else caught his eye. Two figures moving through the streets below, heading in the same direction Jinx had taken. They were moving with purpose, clearly not just aimless wanderers.

Ekko narrowed his eyes, his suspicion growing. He could tell one of them was an Enforcer by the way they carried themselves, but something about the other one seemed different. There was a familiarity to them—a way of moving, a posture that tugged at the edges of his memory.

He focused on the taller of the two, a woman with pink hair. His breath hitched as recognition slammed into him like a freight train.“Vi?” he whispered, disbelief coloring his voice. He hadn’t seen her in years—hadn’t even known if she was alive.

But here she was, walking through the streets of Zaun like a ghost from his past.

Ekko’s mind raced. What was she doing here? And who was the other person with her?

His heart pounded in his chest as he watched them from the shadows. Part of him wanted to run down there, to confront her, to ask her what the hell she was doing back in Zaun. But another part of him hesitated. What if this was a trap? What if she wasn’t the Vi he remembered?

After a few moments of indecision, Ekko made up his mind. He had to follow them, to find out what was going on. Keeping to the rooftops, he moved silently, tracking them through the labyrinthine streets of Zaun.

As he followed, his mind churned with questions. What had happened to her? Where had she been all this time? And most importantly—what did her return mean for him, for Jinx, and for everything they had fought for?

When Vi and her companion finally stopped, it was near an old, abandoned factory on the edge of the city. Ekko crouched low, keeping out of sight as he watched them from a distance.

He couldn’t hear what they were saying, but the way Vi moved, the way she carried herself—it was undeniably her.

His thoughts flickered back to the old days, to the times when they had fought side by side, before everything had gone to hell.

He clenched his fists, a mix of emotions swirling in his chest. He had thought those days were behind him, but seeing Vi again stirred up old feelings, old memories that he had tried to bury.

As Vi and her companion disappeared into the factory, Ekko knew he couldn’t just walk away. He had to know what they were up to, what they were planning.

The cold night air bit at Jinx’s skin as she navigated through Zaun's labyrinth of alleyways. The shadows seemed to taunt her, dancing mockingly as she hurried back to her hideout. Her heart still pounded with the adrenaline of the botched heist, and her mind churned with frustration.

She had been so close. The gemstone had been within her grasp, its radiant glow a promise of power and purpose. But then, like a bad dream that wouldn’t end, the Firelights had appeared, and her plan had unraveled in a matter of minutes. And that infuriating Ekko, with his smug confidence and infuriating ability to always be one step ahead, had stolen her victory yet again.
