Continuing on Lena was sat on the stool with the sorting hat placed upon her silver head as she patiently waited for it to sort her into a house."Hm, interesting indeed...", the sorting hat spoke inside her head, rattling around through her thoughts. "I've never sorted a dreamer before", he mentioned in a mumble though Lena caught it.
"A dreamer?", Lena questioned back quietly to the hat, yet it gave her no answer as it yelled out.
"SLYTHERIN!"
Everyone gawked at the hats decision, nobody having expected this timid and shy girl would be sorted into Slytherin, not even Lena herself had expected this.
Majority of the students having seen the girl playing with her bug on the train making them think that she'd surely be sorted into Hufflepuff, Dracos mouth by far had been dropped the most from where he stood.
The hall was mostly silent at the hats decision bar the teachers who all clapped before Snape sent a harsh look over towards the table of his House making the Slytherins all reluctantly begin clapping for their new member.
Lena's face didn't change from her vacant expression, seeming to mostly cringe at all the loud noise at most as she stood up from the stool and quickly made her way over to the Slytherin table so people would stop looking at her.
Getting to the green and black table as she sat down on the first seat by the edge, not wanting to bother anyone or herself as she chose to sit alone until forced to sit next to people when the table became full.
As Professor McGonagall called out other names to be sorted Lena didn't pay much attention as she zoned out.
"Draco Malfoy", McGonagall called for the boy on the train, Lena hearing this name clearly in her head as she looked up, almost as if she was drawn by a force to look up to see the boy in the train taking a seat on the stool.
The hat had barely touched off Dracos perfectly slicked back hair as it hovered just above his head as it yelled.
"SLYTHERIN!", it's decision making the boy release a smug smirk though on the inside he was beaming as he made his way to the Slytherin table taking a seat down beside the quiet girl he'd met on the train.
"Harry Potter", the next name McGonagall called had the whole hall go into complete silence, so quite you could hear a pin drop.
The boy who lived sat on the stool as the hat was placed atop his head the hat seeming to take awhile to decide as it seemed to be debating with Harry before it yelled out.
"GRYFFINDOR!"
Immediately there was an uproar in the hall which was mostly coming from the Gryffindors as they jumped up and chanted. "We got Potter! We got Potter!", a chant started by non other than the Weasley Twins.
After that the hall got less chaotic as the last few names were called up to be sorted, Lena once again not paying full attention as she gazed up at the night sky ceiling with all the burning candles floating above.
The tapping sound on a glass caught the attention of pupils as they looked up to the staff table. "Your attention, please", McGongall called to all the students making them quiet down as Professor Dumbledore once again raised from his seat.
"Let the feast begin", he announced with a raise of his goblet which in return magically made food appear on the tables all around the room piling onto them.
All the children and teens from first to sixth years began eating the delicious food, shoveling it down their throats as if they'd never eat again, all except on student.
"The snake has two heads", Lena murmured to herself with her eyes caught on the Professor with the purple turban wrapped around his head.
Professor Quirll acted as if he'd sensed or heard the girls murmur as his head turned to face her directly as if her low words had travelled to his ears as if she'd shouted them, his brows furrowing in question and wonder as he stared into her eyes that stared back at him.
As the two stared at one another it seemed to be that the only person to notice this strange encounter was the man in all black sat next to Quirll.
Professor Snape gave a side eye to a suspicious Quirll with his own look of question as he followed the man's eyes to his new pupil Helena Lovegood.
"What did you say, Helena?", Dracos voice cut in, snapping her from her stare off with Quirll as she turned to look at him.
"Oh, nothing", Lena brushed him off.
"Just tell us", one of the girls sat across from her snapped.
"Yeah, no secrets here", another girl chimed in harshly sitting next to the first girl.
At their harsh tones and critical stares Lena shrunk back into herself as she turned to face away from them.
"Look at her quivering like a mouse", one of them laughed at her, Daphne Greengrass.
"She's just a Little Mouse ain't she?", Pansy Parkinson drawled in mocking as she snorted.
Not concerned at all by their teasing Lena just nodded slightly as she then looked down to her plate as she began to pick at her food, ignoring the conversations around her as she pushed around the mashed potato on her plate.
Instead just choosing to ignore them, letting them say whatever they want and paying no mind to it as she looked around the hall, not leaving. any corner uncovered with her curious gaze.
Her nervous almost timid glancing caught the Headmasters eye as he looked to the young girl sat amongst the Slytherins, appearing to be out of place yet also seeming to fit right in, in a strange sort of way.
Feeling the eyes on her Lena glanced around until she met the eyes of Dumbledore who gave her a cheeky wink before he glanced away as Lena then let a smile take on her face as she too looked away.
Forgetting entirely of her strange exchange with the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher as she tucked into the mouth watering dinner spread before her.
Not speaking much to the peers around her as she quietly munched on her food, only having small little conversations with Draco who was sat next to her interacting with everyone.
The blonde boy leaving his conversation with the others to talk to her every now and again for the whole dinner.
When she wasn't speaking to him Lena was thinking of the bug she's been holding on the train remembering all the studies she'd made about it so she could go and find it later on in one of her many books.
Once it hit a certain time dinner was ended as the first years were then shown the way into the dungeons as they reached portrait to the Slytherin common rooms.
Escorted inside the prefects then split up the boys and the girls as they led them to their dormitories, Lena unluckily being placed in the same dorm as the two girls who'd been making fun of her at dinner.
Lena herself not caring as much as she took the bed in the corner of the room away from the two snobby girls, getting into bed with one of her books as she researched up on the insect from the train, trying to learn more about it as she flipped through the pages as she blocked out the two gossiping girls.
