~One month later~

"Why are we even going to the dance? We don't even have dates." Hamish asked his best friend Scott, who was rummaging in his closet for a suit. "Because lots of single girls go to dances, and you need to bring one home so she can get you out of this flat." Scott said as he found Hamish's suit. " "You know I don't just go out with random girls." Hamish said.
Scott handed him his suit, "Put it on." He said. Hamish exhaled, "Fine. But I doubt I'll be bringing a girl home." "Well I'm definitely going to try my hardest to bring one home." Scott said turning his back as Hamish got ready.
As soon as they both were ready they got into Hamish's car and drove to the school.
They arrived shortly and went inside.
Everyone was dressed in beautiful gowns and fitted suits. Couples were dancing to the slow music that was played up front.
"Now we need to find some single girls." Scott said. "I don't just want any girl." Hamish said. "Well Abigail seems to be taken, so just try a different one." Scott said. Hamish rolled his eyes and followed Scott around.
Hamish had been sitting in a chair for almost a half an hour while Scott was getting girls numbers a few feet in front of him. Scott returned to Hamish, "Come on Hamish, have a little fun." he said. "This isn't fun." Hamish said. "Sorry I'm trying." Scott said. "Sorry, I just don't see the point. I don't like any other girls that way." Hamish replied. "You need to give it a try, because the only girl you've ever liked has a boyfriend." Scott said passing a girls number to Hamish.
He looked at it for a moment then sighed and put it in his pocket.
"Now ask one to dance." Scott instructed. Hamish groaned, "why?" he asked. "Because you need to get over your crush." Scott replied. Hamish mumbled under his breath as Scott pulled him off the chair. He stood up and wandered looking for a girl to ask.
After ten minutes of searching he found a girl sitting alone near the door, he approached her. "Hey," he said awkwardly, getting her attention. "Hi." she said looking up from her phone. "W-would you like to dance?" he asked. "Might as well, my date is taking his time to show up." She said standing up and taking Hamish's arm.
They walked to the dance floor as the song changed. "Your name is Hamish, right?" she asked. "Yeah." he replied. "I'm Rebecca." she said. "Its nice to meet you Rebecca." Hamish replied. "So who's your date?" Rebecca asked. "I didn't bring one." Hamish replied. "You must be very confident then." Rebecca said. "I-" Hamish stopped talking when he heard a voice, "No Alex!" it was Abby.
"I'm terribly sorry but I have to go," Hamish said. "Its alright, my date just arrived." Rebecca said. "Okay, bye." Hamish said heading in the direction of Abby's voice. He searched for several minutes before he finally spotted her near the back wall. Alex was in front of her with his hand raised. Hamish snarled as Alex brought his hand down on her.
Hamish charged over and tackled Alex. "Hamish!" Abby said, she had been crying. "You will never lay a hand on Abby again!" Hamish said as he punched Alex.
Hamish had to get dragged off of Alex by a few by standing teachers and Scott. They were thrown out of the building by the teachers. Abby was crying. Hamish tossed the car keys to Scott, he grabbed Abby's hand. "I'll take you home." he said. "Abby don't you dare go with him." Alex said from behind them, he was clutching his stomach and his face was bleeding. Abby ignored him. "You'll regret it!" Alex yelled desperately. Abby ignored him once again and got into the back of Hamish's car.
Scott got into the drivers seat and started the car, Hamish sat next to Abby in the back and hugged her as she cried. "Thank you, for that." she said. "He wasn't treating you right." Hamish said. "He hasn't been for a while." Abby replied. "I'm glad I beat him up then." Hamish said. Abby sat up and wiped her eyes. "I should have broke it off a while ago." she muttered.
"I won't let him hurt you again." Hamish said. Abby smiled, "I know you won't," she said, "and I suppose, I owe you a token of my gratitude." "You don't owe me anyt-" Hamish was cutoff when Abby pressed her lips to his. He was surprised at first but then kissed her back. Scott looked back in the rear view mirror, "Are you two snogging back there-, called it." he said, he parked the car. "Well I'm home, so it's your turn to drive Mish." Scott said.
Abby broke the kiss and smiled. "Bye Hamish, bye Abby." Scott said getting out of the car. "bye." they muttered in return not taking their eyes off each other. "Thank you Abby." Hamish said. "I know you have a huge crush on me," Abby replied, Hamish's face reddened. "I also have a crush on you, I have for a while now." Abby said. "really?" Hamish asked. "Yeah, I think we should give it a go." Abby said. "really? This soon after Alex?" Hamish asked. "Sure, I lost my feelings for him anyway." she said. Hamish smiled, "lets give it a go." "but first you should probably get me home before eleven." Abby said. "Okay." Hamish said getting into the front seat, Abby got into the passenger seat. He drove to the Watson's flat.
"I don't think my parents are home yet." Abby said. "want me to walk you to the door?" Hamish asked. "you can come in and visit with me for a bit if you'd like." Abby suggested. "I'd like that." Hamish said. Abby smiled and got out of the car, "C'mon then." she said. Hamish got out and took her hand, they went inside and sat on the couch. Abby leaned on Hamish's shoulder.
"You want to try that first kiss again?" Abby asked taking out her hair, it rested into blonde waves on her shoulders. "yeah." Hamish grinned. "Good," Abby smiled leaning in for the kiss. She kissed him softly running her fingers through his curly black hair. Hamish wrapped his arms around her as the kiss deepened. They didn't notice when John and Mary walked in.
John cleared his throat, Abby broke the kiss and looked up, "Hi Dad." she said. "How long has this been going on?" John asked. Abby glanced at the clock, "About an hour." John rolled his eyes. "I'd better go home." Hamish said. "I'll call you." Abby smiled. "Okay, bye." Hamish said standing up. "Bye," Abby said.
