"How long can I stay before they do another head count?" I asked Kendrick. He was on his computer, with my phone attached to it, typing fast and furiously. He was trying to find something about my stalkers, maybe hack into their iCloud, but he wasn't getting far, judging by the frustration on his face.

"You should be getting to your own room now," he told me. "You not being there during the first head count was suspicious enough."

"So they really did one head count. That means there's no way I won't be caught."

"I told them that you had come down with something and you were stuck in the bathroom, shitting your guts out," said he, laughing a wheezing, hilarious, yet charmingly handsome laugh.

I watched him in annoyance for a couple of seconds, but eventually, I started laughing alongside him due to the infectious nature of his laugh. I turned onto my back and placed both hands underneath my head, looking at the ceiling.

"Okay, you know, I guess you should stay with me. I can easily say that I was taking care of you because you were sick," he suggested.

I was grateful somewhere deep down, but I didn't let it show. I hadn't told him that my stalkers had a surprise waiting for me in my room, but whatever it was, it made me dread.

"Kendrick?"

"Yeah?"

"Explain what that was. That route we used to get into the school," I said, as the thought had been nagging me for a while.

"Ah, the secret tunnel. Nobody really knows. You're only let onto the secret when you become seniors, by the graduating class, but your batch was left out. Something about you all not being trustworthy. I had to bend a few rules for you." He laughed guilty as he spoke.

"Can't someone easily get in? What if they want to use the 'public bathroom'?"

"It can only be opened from the inside. Don't worry about it being found. It has remained a secret for years and will stay that way."

It was nearly six pm when they finally lifted the lockdown restrictions. As expected, another head count was done, and when I was found in Kendrick's room, I acted like I'd really caught diarrhea and he was taking care of me.

It backfired when they sent me to the school nurse. I didn't have any symptoms, but thankfully, I managed to worm my way out of that one. Now it was nighttime, and I finally had to go to my room. I checked my stalkers' message log to see if they'd left any new messages, but there were none. It was just the last one, where they'd told me that I had a surprise waiting for me in my dorm room.

I'd thought to see Lucy, and threaten her to keep her mouth shut, but I'd figured that if they were going to tell, they would've told already, so I decided to let sleeping dogs lie.

I trotted down the hallways, my pace quick, occasionally bumping into teenage bodies. The hallways were crowded with people, since everyone was discussing what had happened.

We'd had an emergency assembly and watched the video of me running with my top over my face, but thankfully, I was too quick to have been recognized. I zoomed past the few cameras like The Flash.

The only thing that could be seen were my shoes, and I'd thrown them out per Kendrick's directive. They couldn't catch me if Lucy didn't snitch. Even then, it was her word against mine. No one else on the bus would be able to corroborate her story since they hadn't seen me.
