Third person's pov
Jungkook was running, his breaths ragged and uneven, his heart pounding furiously against his chest. The shadows of the night stretched out around him, but they were not as dark as the voices chasing him.
"Die, monster!"
"You're cursed!"
"You killed our Alpha!"
"Because of you, Azurethra will fall apart!"
He tried to shut them out, tried to focus on the path ahead, but the words sliced into his soul.
Tears blurred his vision, making it harder to see the ground beneath his feet. The world around him spun faster, the earth shaking as if it too was condemning him. Then, suddenly, his foot caught on a jagged stone, and he was falling.
The ground rushed up to meet him, and he hit it with a loud thud, the impact forcing the breath from his lungs.
Before he could push himself up, they were upon him. Hands, cold and merciless, grabbed at him from all sides. Jungkook's cries were drowned out by their relentless accusations, their voices growing louder, more desperate.
"No! Please-" he gasped out.
Then, just as the pressure became unbearable, Jungkook jolted awake with a huge gasp, his chest heaving as he tried to suck in air. His hands trembled as they gripped the edges of his blanket, his knuckles white with fear.
He reached for the water beside his bed, his fingers shaking so much that a few drops spilled onto the sheets. He drank deeply, but the cool liquid did little to soothe the fear in his chest.
Sleep was impossible now. It was always impossible after nights like this. Jungkook pushed the covers off and swung his legs over the side of the bed. Without hesitation, he reached for his face veil and a lighter head veil, quickly securing them in place.
His eyes drifted to his sword resting against the bedside table. It was his constant companion, the one thing that brought him peace on nights when sleep abandoned him.
Jungkook picked it up and with a deep breath, Jungkook walked to the door of his chambers and opened it. The guards outside immediately straightened and bowed. Jungkook nodded slightly in acknowledgment but said nothing as he stepped into the hallway.
As he passed by Taehyung's room, a faint light caught his attention. It seeped out from under the door, a soft glow that shouldn't have been there at this hour.
"What is he doing at this time?" Jungkook murmured to himself, his brow furrowing in concern. Taehyung was usually so punctual with his routines, never one to stay up late without reason.
Before he could think better of it, Jungkook found himself knocking on the door.
The door opened almost immediately, revealing Taehyung's tall frame. His expression was one of surprise that quickly shifted to concern as he bowed deeply. "Your Royal Grace, is something wrong?"
