as summer was long over, the leaves were shades of orange and red, the air was cool, and with each passing day it started to feel more like autumn.

i was walking along a grassy path, although the grass was turning a dull color, and with each step, it would crunch. i was in a black jacket and black leggings, with my dark hair pulled back into one braid, with two small pieces in the front. my three best friends, matt, nick, and chris, also known as the sturniolo triplets, were meeting me at the nearby record and bookstore. the whole day was giving off fall vibes, and i loved it.

as i got closer to the store, many kids were playing soccer on what was left of a field, and nearby, people were raking the leaves off their lawns.

i walked up the cobblestone pathway and opened the front door of the store. chris popped out from behind a bookshelf, coming over to show me a book he thought i might like. matt and nick were at the starbucks popup store that was in the shop.

'what do you think, y/n?' chris asked me. 'it's about a boy who accidentally curses his older sister, you know, that type of crazy shit you like.'

laughing, i picked up the book. 'i'll see what it's about. now, in the meantime, let's go see nick and matt.'

'yeah, i want my drink,' chris replied.

we walked over to the starbucks area, where nick and matt had our drinks waiting for us. a simple hot chocolate was fine with me, but chris got all fancy with his.

'you guys want to come over to my house later? we could do like a scary movie marathon or something,' i asked them. we did stuff like this very often, and i just loved hanging out with them.

'yeah! we found some more movies over there by the records that we want to try out,' matt said, nodding toward the area he was talking about.

'i'll go and grab them real quick,' nick said, walking over to them.

we all got up, and while nick was checking out, matt and i looked around the records. i was huge on them, and so was matt. during times when there was nothing to do, i would put on some records and clean or something.

walking back to my house, we stopped by the store to grab some snacks and drinks. chris grabbed a ton of pepsi and chips. i got some popcorn and candy corn; i loved candy corn more than any other candy. we checked out and went back to making our way to my house, talking about random things along the way.

once we reached my house, which was most definitely decorated for autumn, i put out some of my halloween blankets on the couch and got out some bowls for the treats we got. the boys set up the dvd player and got the first movie ready.

i plopped down on the couch, most of my body lying on nick. we normally would do this when watching any type of movie, and i grabbed a pumpkin blanket to put on top of us.

once we were all situated, matt pushed play. since it was dark in the living room, the tv cast an eerie glow, making it even spookier. halfway through the movie, it started to get actually kind of scary. i jumped and buried my face on nick a couple of times. i loved watching scary movies but hated it at the same time.

soon, the movie was over.

'ok, not gonna lie, that was actually disturbing,' matt said from below my feet, sitting on the ground.

i agreed, and matt started the next one, and the next, and the next, and so forth. i didn't think i would get much sleep that night.
