Orm couldn't wait to see Ling again after their trip. Every moment without her had felt like an eternity. The bond they shared had deepened over the past few weeks, and even the smallest separation felt like a void in her heart. As she stood at Ling's doorstep, a mix of excitement and anxiety washed over her. What would it be like now that they were back home? Would things be the same?

Ling seemed equally eager, fumbling with the keys before finally opening the door. The familiar scent of home greeted them, yet something felt off. The silence was unnerving, like a blanket of unease that settled over the house.

"Where is Tom?" Orm asked, her voice tinged with concern as her eyes darted around the room, searching for any sign of life.

"Probably sleeping; it's late already," Ling replied, trying to sound casual, but the worry was evident in her tone.

"Yeah, right. I should be sleeping," Tom's voice came from the stairs. Orm and Ling turned to see him descending slowly, rubbing his eyes as if just waking up. But then, his sleepy demeanor shifted as soon as he saw them. His eyes lit up, and he suddenly sprinted down the stairs, arms wide open.

"I missed youuuu!" he exclaimed, rushing toward Orm and enveloping her in a tight embrace. His voice was full of joy, a mix of relief and affection that took Orm by surprise.

Orm laughed, hugging him back, feeling the warmth of his affection. "Hey Tom, I'm right here," Ling interjected, half-jokingly.

"I know, I missed her, not you," Tom replied, playfully sticking his tongue out at Ling. "So, you guys are back, finally! I literally couldn't sleep while you were gone."

"Why?" Ling asked, her eyebrows knitting together in confusion.

"First, because when Orm traveled, you wouldn't shut up about how much you missed her," Tom said, shooting a teasing glance at Ling. Orm looked at Ling, whose cheeks had turned a shade of red that matched the deepest sunset. She tried to hide her embarrassment by avoiding Orm's gaze, but it was too late. Orm had already seen the sweet vulnerability in her expression.

"And then," Tom continued, his tone becoming more serious, "Orm's father called me to say you had a migraine and almost fainted. What happened?"

Ling sighed, the weight of the conversation pressing down on her. "I had a migraine," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

"And she almost fainted," Orm added, her voice laced with concern as she remembered how terrifying that moment had been.

Tom looked at them skeptically, his eyes narrowing as he tried to read between the lines. "Blah, blah, your dad might believe it, but I don't. Come on, tell me what really happened," he demanded, his protective instincts kicking in.

"Nothing," Ling replied, her frustration bubbling to the surface. "We were just being a couple and kissing, that's it."

Tom raised an eyebrow, clearly not satisfied with that answer. "Just kissing?" he asked, his tone laced with disbelief.

"Yeah, Tom. Now, let us sleep, please. We're tired," Orm said, trying to defuse the situation. She gently took Ling's hand, the simple gesture sending a comforting warmth through her. Together, they walked towards Ling's bedroom door, seeking refuge from the tension that had built up.

As they reached the door, Orm leaned in closer, her voice a soft whisper. "Do you think he knows something?"

Ling shook her head, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "No, he's just being overprotective. And by the way, I didn't lie. We were being a couple and kissing. I just didn't specify what being a couple means," she said, her smile turning into a mischievous grin.
