"I hate you, Aryan."
I muttered under my breath as I watched his retreating figure fade into the morning shadows. But despite the words I said, a small smile tugged at the corner of my lips. Why? Because deep down, I know I don't really hate him.
Yes, he's a pain. Yes, he made my life hell once. But the truth? I like him too.
There's something about the way he understands things without forcing answers out of me. That quiet kind of maturity—it makes him stand out from most boys I've met. And even though we're technically still enemies... there's something about him that makes my heart falter.
But no. I can't forget the past.
He made my life miserable.
Because of him, I lost my—
"Di?" I turned at the sound of someone calling me and froze slightly when I saw my brother walking toward me, looking confused.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, narrowing my eyes suspiciously.
He blinked. "What I'm doing here? The real question is—what are you doing here?"
I rolled my eyes. "You idiot, this is my house. Obviously, I'm going to be here!"
He grinned. "Which means it's my house too, right?"
Ugh. Typical Lakshya logic.
"Okay, forget all this. Just tell me straight—how did you know I was about to come home?"
He raised an eyebrow and smirked. "Vivaan told me. Said Aryan bhai just left the house to look for you. So I figured I should come pick you up."
Wait, what?
"Hold on—where are Mom or Dad? Shouldn't they be the ones freaking out if I was missing all night?"
He shook his head. "Mansi di already told everyone that you were at her place for a sleepover. But what I don't understand is—why did you leave her place? And wait... did you get lost or something?"
I mentally face-palmed. So much questioning. So much unnecessary attention.
"I just... forgot to tell you guys about the sleepover, and I thought everyone might be worried. So I left Mansi's house and called Aryan to pick me up. That's all."
I didn't dare mention the part about the boys who tried to follow me. If Lakshya or—God forbid—Dad ever found out, they would never let me step out alone again. Not for college, not for anything.
