Harry Potter looks across the room, feeling conflicted. Draco Malfoy is throwing himself all over that pug-faced Parkinson without a care in the world. It seems the relationship he once harboured with Chastity is over. He's not sure what to feel about that. On one hand he is happy to finally have Chastity away from his influence. On the other hand he knew how she felt about him before. He can only imagine what she's like when she's upset.

"You're staring at him like you're waiting for the git to burst into flames." Ginny comments. Not that she's one to talk, she's been staring longingly at Harry since she met the boy who lived. And she can't deny she's annoyed that the Slytherin power couple seems to have split, that means she'll have to fight for Harry's attention again.

"I wouldn't be surprised, considering who he happens to be betraying." Hermione counters. There's a hush between the group of magical beings as they scan the room for the daughter of Loki.

"Have you seen her yet this year?" Ron mutters, almost to himself.

"Speak up, Ronald."

His eyes roll, which happens often enough he's afraid they'll fall out eventually.

"Have you seen Chastity?" Ginny frowns, feeling a sense of dread at the sound of her name.

"No." The raven haired boy frowns, pushing his rounded spectacles up the bridge of his nose, "have you?"

"It's not like we spend much time in the dungeons anyway."

There's a call from the front of the great hall, it's Dumbledore looking to start the first feast at Hogwarts for the year.

The elder wizard clears his throat, "I beg your attention, as I have a few start of term announcements." He pauses to allow the last of the chatter to die down. "Right off. Our caretaker, the grand master Filch, has reminded me for what he says is the four hundredth and sixty-second time that he had an annually updated list of banned items. Usually introduced by our humour experts, Fred and George Weasley."

The student body laughs aloud as the twins rise from their seats and bow dramatically, taking pride in the recognition.

"...which are posted on an extensive list on the door to Filch's office." Dumbledore allows the room to quiet again. "Also, we have two staffing changes this year. Professor Grubby-Plank will be taking up the Care of Magical Creatures as professor Hagrid is on...extended leave."

Harry lets out an audible gasp, all the while exchanging glances with Ron and Hermione.

"Additionally, we have professor Umbridge. Who has kindly agreed to fill the post of Defence Against the Dark Arts-" the headmaster is interrupted by the foul woman in pink standing and clearing her throat.

"Hem, hem. Headmaster, if I could address the school." She gives no indication of waiting for permission for her statement, waddling precariously on her pink velvet high heels to the podium.

Dumbledore returns to his seat, sparing a glance around, seemingly looking for someone in particular, but he doesn't see her.

"Thank you headmaster, now how are we all doing tonight?" There isn't enough of a pause for a response, not that the students were primed to give one anyway. "I thought I would say a few words. I am here at the bequest of the Ministry, under educational decree twenty-two, which states, if the headmaster of Hogwarts is unable to fill any teaching post the Ministry shall select one for the position." Hermione frowns deeply.

The students murmur anxiously around the room. Even the strangely acting Malfoy looks to be concerned.

"The Ministry has always considered the magical education of our children to be of the utmost importance, and the passing down of this ancient and noble art must be given to the next generation, lest it be lost forever."
