chapter 04 | desire for freedom.

A knock to the door brought the princess out of her thoughts.
Sensing who it might be she frowned.
"Come in."

The door cracked as they were slowly opened, following by the sound of footsteps.
"Y/n."
The girl turned her head around, facing her mother.
"We're having guests over tommorow. Prince from the most superioir kingdom. This time you must decide. Understood?"
The queen stared at her daughter waiting for a response to which the girl only stared back keeping her mouth shut with a displeased expression.
The queen began to get frustrated.
"Understood?!" She yells.

"No! It's not understood!"

"Y/n you must get merried while you're still young!"

"I don't want to! I really don't! Let me be! Let that at least be something I can decide!"

"Y/n you-"

"Get out of my room!"
She points at the door as the queen started stepping towards her.

"Can't you act polite towards your mother?!"
She pulled her by her ear roughly making her groan.
"You're not my mother!" Y/n says
The queen was about to slap her but someone grabbed her hand.
It was the king.
He gave the queen an annoyed look.
"Just what do you think you're doing?"

The queen does not respond as she gets out of the room.
The king reached out for his daughter to check if she's alright.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine!"
She steps back.
"Just.. give me some time alone."
The king walks out of the room closing the door. He began to argue with the queen.

"Come on why are you making this such a big deal?"

"She needs to do this! I don't understand why she's behaving this way? It's like she changed overnight! I can't let her go on like this."

"Yes you can. Leave her be. We kidnapped and forced her here after all."

The princess overheard the conversation as she opened the windows of her room.
The wind gushed throught the curtains and throught her hair.
She kept her eyes on the clear blue sky as she took her dragon form and flew out.

The frustration she held was let out by tears, and her now watery eyes searched the ground for something, or rather someone by chance while she circled around the infmaous starr park.

She checked down to the medival themed part where they last saw each other. The big dragon took a landing amongst the visitors.

People wtached the dragon, some with surprise, fear and some with amazement. She walked and looked around, trying to catch at least a glimpse of the one she's searching for.

She knows she shouldn't be doing this. Walking right among a bunch of humans. But it's gotten to the point where she does not give a damn.

Her eyes land on a crowd of children that formed around something on a thing that seemed like a stage.

They were standing and listening to...

...

"And what happened next?"

"Tell us, tell us!"

The children pleaded to find out more about the dragon story the red haired knight was telling them.

"And then i felt a presence behind me.. sure to say it was a dragon when i felt it's hot breath against my skin."

And that's when Y/n's dragon form appeared behind him and realeased smoke from her snout.
She found Draco.

"Woaaahh!"
"A real dragon!"
The children beam, Draco turns around.

The dragon stood still as the two shared a stare into each other's eyes. Something about the dragon's orbs seemed very familar to Draco.

"Will it hurt us?"
A little boy in the crowd asks

"It won't i'm sure... right.?"
He reaches his hand out to it slowly but the dragon to his surprise closed the distance beetwen her snout and his palm.
She closed her eyes and leaned into his touch like a dog.

Draco chuckles
"See?"

"Woah i wanna pet it too!"
"Me too!"
"Me first!!"
The kids happily ran and reached their hands out to pet the big reptile.

She was surprised, but enjoyed the affection.

The dragon's attention soonly drifted towards the male. She steps towards him and lighly rubs her head against his chest before realeaseing a demandish sound.
She hops off the stage and into the crowd , signaling him to follow.

She dragged him to the park where they met the first time.

"Why'd you take me here?" He asks before getting surprised as the dragon started glowing and got shaped into a human figure, revealing someone he knew.

"Hey!" Y/n greets.
"Y/n?!"

She hugs him immadietly and he hugs back.
"I missed you.." he whispers.
Y/n buries her head in his shoulder. "Missed you too."

She pulls away and opens her mouth to state something but closes it and hesitates.

"Everything alright?" Draco asks and her heart melts. Knowing he cares about her like that, it just gives her a fuzzy feeling.

"Draco, listen... i.. am supposed to get married tommorow and i don't think i'm going to be able to deny and fight against it this time.
So... in case we never see each other again, i want you to know that...
I love you. Like,
I'm in love with you.
You're not just a crush, i'm afraid."
She conffeses but her expression was a kind of serious one.

Draco was surprised and was about to say something but Y/n brought her finger to his lips stopping him.

"Don't... don't tell me anything. Whatever you say is going to make this harder to handle. I'm sorry, please forget about me.
...
and thank you for making me happy."

A tear escapes the edge of her eye as she takes her dragon form and flies into the sky back to her castle.

She was glad she found at least something that would make her smile when she remembers it.
But when it comes like this, it could make her feel worse. She tries to forget, but everything somehow brings her memory back to the one she truly loves and to the time she felt free.

She couldn't sleep the whole night.
Her expression was just blunt and dissapointment rather than her usual angry state
while she was given a makeover and an outfit.

She sat there in front of the four prince holding back tears as they held their speeches.
