A few days later…
Millie is busy at her café, taking orders and managing the counter. The café is relatively quiet, with just a few customers scattered about. Jessica is there, helping out as usual.
Since the café isn’t crowded, the two of them decide to take a short break and sit together at a small table near the window.
As Millie sips from her glass of water, she looks up and asks, “How’s your dad?”
Jessica, who is also taking a moment to relax, replies, “He’s doing well. His blood pressure tends to go up now and then, but it’s nothing serious. He’s okay for now.”
The two friends engage in light, everyday chatter, sharing updates about their lives and catching up on personal matters.
After some time, Millie’s phone buzzes with a new message. She glances at the screen and sees it’s from the officer, her brow furrowing slightly as she reads it.
Officer Seok has sent a series of photos.
'Officer Seok might have found something about the stalker' she thinks, staring at the notification from Seok’s message.
She unlocks her phone and opens the message to find the photos attached.
Millie examines the photos sent by Officer Seok and notices that they are from the CCTV camera outside her house. The images show a person who appears to be the plumber. However, the face is blurred and not clearly visible. The individual is wearing a cap and mask, making identification difficult. In the photos, the plumber is seated in a very expensive car, adding to the mystery. Millie studies the images closely, trying to piece together any additional information that might help her understand the situation better.
Officer Seok:
“I need you to meet me for some urgent questions, Ms. Millie.”Millie:
“Okay, Mr. Seok, I’ll head to the police station.”Officer Seok:
“No, I’m not there. Meet me at ×××× address. It’s important.”Millie:
“Understood. I’ll be there as soon as I can.”Millie rises from her chair, quickly removing her apron and gathering her belongings. She turns to Jessica with a serious expression.
“Unnie, I need to step out for something urgent. Can you please manage the café while I’m gone?”
Jessica nods with a reassuring smile. “Don’t worry, Millie. Take your time; I’ve got everything covered here.”
Millie hurries out of the café, climbs into a waiting cab, and instructs the driver with the address Officer Seok provided.
The cab pulls away, racing towards the new location as Millie’s mind races with thoughts of what might be unfolding.
A short while later, Millie arrives at the library café, its warm, inviting atmosphere offering a stark contrast to her anxious state. She steps inside, glancing around to get her bearings before dialing Officer Seok.
His voice comes through clearly on the line. “Head further inside,” he instructs. “I’m in the back area.”
Millie follows his directions, weaving through the rows of bookshelves and cozy reading nooks. The café is quiet, with only a few patrons scattered around, adding to the sense of secrecy. As she reaches the back, she spots Officer Seok seated at a secluded table.
She hangs up the phone and slips it back into her pocket, her mind racing with questions and concerns. With a deep breath, she approaches the officer, ready to hear what he has to say.
