IT WAS SAFE TO SAY THAT HURRICANES, given their vile nature, weren't the type to discriminate against the different classes as they wreaked havoc upon the entirety of Kildare island. The aftermath of hurricane Agatha was disastrous, to say the least, or so Jaylene assumed as she woke from her slumber that following morning, standing by the doorway of her bathroom where she'd been flicking the light switch up and down in hopes of miraculously restoring power to the Rosewood household merely due to the fact that it was an inconvenience to her.

She glanced into her room from where she stood, mumbling inaudible profanities under her breath as she took a swift turn into her closet to retrieve a coffee-colored bikini along with a pair of denim shorts to slip into after a much needed cold shower to erase the disgust that embraced her after having been deprived of the air conditioning. The Rosewood girl planned to spend her day rotting away in their yacht stationed at the end of their dock given that it was equipped with everything she required to survive the hot, summer day that could already be felt from the warmth scattered across her bedroom floor. More importantly, it'd be the only place within walking distance with a functioning ac unit.

Surely the generators would kick in at a later time, so until then, she made use of the daylight that bled through the frosted window in her bathroom while she allowed the fresh water to relieve her from the sheer disgust from her sticky body. She was one of the lucky ones, she knew. The other side of the island was likely unrecognizable from the storm. Power lines alongside landlines had likely fallen and with their luck, the water supply had been cut.

She didn't dwell on the negative for long and continued about her day in a manner she hadn't been accustomed to in a while. After brushing her teeth and applying her overly precise skin care items to her face alongside a generous coat of sunscreen all over her body, she threw reading material into a tote bag along with her cellphone and earbuds before continuing out of her room and down the stairs to join her family in the living room . . . minus Aaliyah and River.

Her mother glanced over at her with a tired smile on her lips. "Heading out already?"

Jaylene shook her head, glancing into the backyard where what appeared to be a clean up crew was already busy at work sorting out the disastrous mess that the hurricane had left behind. "Just to the boat. I figured I owed myself a self-care day before making my grand debut back to society."

"Huh, that wouldn't have anything to do with it being the only place with functioning air conditioning?" Her mother quirked a brow at her.

"Definitely plays a factor." Jaylene shrugged in response, leaning forward on the back of the couch. "Going fishing?" She turned to look at her uncle who was wearing his ridiculous bucket hat that he only ever wore during fishing trips.
