She was so engrossed in it that she paid zero attention to the principal when he walked in to let them know that there would be no classes for the rest of the day. When he walked out of the class, Andy stood up and walked up to her.

“So what do you want to do for the rest of the day?” he asked her.
“What do you mean by that?” she asked him back, stull not looking up from the journal.
“We have the rest of the day to ourselves. What would you like to do, except from stare at that book? I mean, I am starting to regret handing her a journal to bring her up to speed.
“I don’t know, Andy. I would just like to finish up with this. What exactly do you have in mind?” she said, still not raising her head to look at him.
“You know what? Don’t worry about it. Take the time you need. I would hang out with the other guys. If you need me, I would be on the field” he said to her.

She looked up from the journal and she felt really bad. She was so invested in whatever she was reading that she was disregarding the feelings of the person that gave it to her. She looked around and she saw that Aurora was sitting on her own. She saw that she was messing everything up. She sighed and said a quiet prayer before closing the journal.

“That was really insensitive of me. What would you like to do? Why do we even have the entire day free? Is that even legal?” she asked him.

He looked at her and he laughed. He shook his head and walked up to her. She looked at him in utter shock because she didn’t know why he was laughing.

“What? Did I miss the joke?” she asked innocently.
“Kayla, you need to get out of your own head. C’mon. I am heading to get a milkshake. You need a soda or something stronger. I would have recommended tequila but I don’t think they would let you take that in school” he said to her.
“I don’t need tequila or something stronger. I am just so out of my own zone and I would be fine once I can catch up with everything that is going on in this school. I feel so out of place here. It feels like I am the new student on the block right now” she said quietly.
“Well, I don’t know what to say about that but I do have a question for you” he said to her.
“What can that be?” she said back to him.
“Let us take a walk. I would probably tell you what it is when we are away from the staring eyes of your classmates and away from the noise” Andy said to her.

She turned around and she saw Jason staring at her. She scoffed with disgust and grabbed her bag. Andy led her to the cafeteria, one hand holding her back and the other opening the door for her to walk through. They got a table and he went to the counter to get her a bottle of soda. He got to the table and sat down, taking of his sweatshirt.

“Just so we are clear, I did ask for tequila. I had to ask really quietly so that I don’t raise any suspicious eyes” Andy said to her.
“Wow, Andy, you keep trying to out do yourself. I already told you that I am fine and I don’t even need a bottle of soda” she said to him.
“Whatever. So how are things between you and Davis?” he asked her.
“Well, I mean, we have not tried to murder ourselves yet and that is good news if you ask me” she said to him.
“Yeah, it is. So, I am seeing someone. Well, I just met her” Andy said to her.
“Oh, how long was I gone again?” she asked him.
“We met at a mall, last weekend and we have been texting a lot and I just really like her, at least, from what I know” he said to her.
“So you like someone that you just met?” she asked him.
“Why are you sounding like it is a bad thing?” he asked her, confused.
“Because it is! You don’t even know this person!” she said, raising her voice just a little higher than normal.
“I do and I am telling you this as my friend. I don’t know but a part of me actually expected you to be happy for me” he said to her.
“Not on this case, Anderson. You can’t like someone that you just met, it doesn’t work that way” she said, a little quieter than she was earlier.
“I am going to ask her out this weekend” he said to Kayla.
“You have to be kidding me” she said back.
“I wish I was but I am not. I am going to ask her out, Kay, at Aurora’s party. I want you to meet her there. Her name is Elsie and she actually wants to meet you, wants to get to know you” Andy said to her.
“No. I don’t want that” Kayla said back.

The bell went off and she stood up from the table, barely touching her soda but leaving it on the table regardless.

“I have to go. Davis would be here soon and I hate to leave him waiting for me” she said to him.
“So that’s it? You are just going to walk away from the conversation?” he asked her.
“What else would you rather have me do? Tell you that this is a wonderful idea and I am in support of it? I can’t do that. That would mean lying to you and I am not fan of that, quite frankly. So you either go ahead with it on your own or you take my advice and get to know this girl first. But I would not be meeting her until I am ready” Kayla said, walking out.
