As Taehyung sat in the stillness of his office, the gears in his mind continued to turn. Jungkook's call had left a lingering impression, but he wasn’t one to dwell. Action was what he needed—swift, calculated, and just enough to remind Jungkook that he wasn’t backing down.
With a sigh, Taehyung reached for his phone and dialed a familiar number. His assistant answered almost immediately.
"Arrange a meeting with my contact," Taehyung ordered, his voice cool and composed.
"Yes, Mr. Kim," came the prompt reply. Before ending the call, Taehyung added with a smirk, "And make it quick. I don't have all day."
Hanging up, It was almost funny how much he and Jungkook had in common, especially when it came to their methods of keeping an eye on each other. They were enemies, yes, but the similarities in their approaches were almost too coincidental to ignore. It was as if they were both playing the same game, just on opposite sides of the board.
Taehyung stood and walked over to the window, his tall frame casting a shadow across the room. He lit a cigarette, the flame briefly illuminating his sharp features before he turned his chair towards the floor-to-ceiling windows. The city outside was alive with the movement of cars, the glow of lights, and the distant hum of a world that never slept.
He took a long drag from the cigarette, exhaling slowly as he let his mind wander. The calm before the storm, he mused. The game of chess was just getting interesting.
A few minutes later, the sound of the office door opening broke the silence. Taehyung didn’t turn around, his eyes still fixed on the view outside.
"Mr. Kim, the person you asked for is here," his secretary, Hyejin, announced from the doorway.
Taehyung made a slight gesture with his hand, dismissing him without a word. He heard the door close softly behind him, followed by the quiet footsteps of his personal spy, Eunwoo, as he entered the room.
Only then did Taehyung turn his chair, facing his visitor with an unreadable expression. He took one last drag from his cigarette before extinguishing it in the ashtray. "Sit," he said, his tone cool and commanding.
Eunwoo, a man of few words, took the seat across from Taehyung, his posture relaxed yet attentive.
Taehyung leaned forward, resting his elbows on the desk. "I need you to find me information that can harm Jeon... but just a little," he said, his voice calm yet firm. "Nothing drastic—just like they did to us. I want it to only harm them by one percent, no more, no less. And make sure it doesn’t touch Mr. Jeon’s respect. Understood?"
Eunwoo nodded, his expression serious. "Understood, sir. I’ll get right on it."
Taehyung watched as Eunwoo stood up, his movements precise and deliberate. Without another word, Eunwoo left the room, the door clicking shut behind him.
For a moment, the room was silent once again, save for the distant sounds of the city outside. Taehyung leaned back in his chair, his thoughts drifting back to the conversation with Jungkook. The bunny and the tiger, playing a game where the stakes were higher than either would openly admit.
As he stared out at the bustling streets below, a small smile played at the corners of his lips. The game was still on, and this time, he was more determined than ever to make his move.
After all, in a game of chess, it’s the smallest moves that often make the biggest difference.
Third person pov
Jungkook leaned back in his chair, the corners of his lips curled into a satisfied smile. The soft hum of his office filled the air, a soothing backdrop to the thrill of his recent success. He knew the victory was temporary, a fleeting moment in the relentless game he played with the Kims, but for now, he allowed himself to savor it.
