As i step into the woods, the serenity and beauty of the forest envelope me completely. There's something so enchanting about the peacefulness of the trees and the soft rusting of leaves. It's a place where I could easily lose myself for days, just sitting and immersing in the tranquility.

I gather some wood in my arms, contemplating if this bundle will be sufficient for what I need. While I enjoy being surrounded by nature, I'm mindful not to wander too far off into the woods.

Bats and foxes are the only thing i'm really scared of. Bats, with their sudden appearances and swift movements, always manage to startle me. And as for foxes, well, a past encounter left me with a lasting memory. I recall a time in my childhood, exploring a park at night, relishing the peace away from constant reminders from my mother. It was then that I encountered a fox. In my innocence, I waved at the fox, thinking it wanted to be petted. To my surprise, the fox's response was far from friendly, leaving me with a sizeable scratch on my arm.

I was bawling my eyes out while walking home, and there's my dad, patching me up. The experience left my 9 year old me, traumatised. After that, i couldn't even look at an animal, let alone wave at one, for a whole three months.

As i make my way back, it dawns on me that I've only been gone for around 10 minutes, so Nicholas should have finished sharpening the stick by now.

Strangely, I don't hear the voices. I don't know why, they're normally there? But I brush it off, assuming they'll return at night. It's not like i'm missing them.

Concerns about food don't trouble me much right now, fish is healthy anyways and i need something in my system. I don't want my stomach to start eating itself or rumbling away in front of Nick.

Returning to our spot, I see Nicholas putting the finishing touches on the sticks' spike. A sight of relief escapes him as he spots me.

"You were gone for so long, I thought you left me." He jokes, shaking his head with a chuckle.

"What? I'd never leave you, Coco," I reassure him sincerely. Why would I?

"Yeah, sure," he responds skeptically. Before I can even open my mouth, he changes the subject. "Do you mind setting up the fire? I'll try to catch at least two fishes." He asks, getting up and dusting off his pants.

"Sure, where's the lighter?" I ask.

He rummages through his bag, retrieves it, and hands it to me. "Here, if anything happens shout to me okay? I'll be right over there," He points towards the sea not far from me.

"Got it."

I start making my way back now, i've been gone for only about 10 minutes now so Nicholas should be done sharpening the stick.
