You directed your gaze toward the classroom window, watching with immersion as rain droplets gently teased the windowpane and drummed against the glass. The outside flora glistened with moisture, taking on a richer, more vivid, hue against the murky grey canvas of sky. There was a palpable sense of anticipation in the air. Some of your classmates shamelessly dozed off, burying their heads in their arms and backpacks. Others remained alert and waiting, their eyes glancing longingly at the clock as it hands steadily approached the end of the hour. Your professor's droning, monotonous voice came to a slow. He looked at his watch.

"Ah, looks like that's all the time we've got. I'll see you all next Thursday."

And with those final words, the class erupted into noise and chatter. Chairs scooting, voices rising, a clamour of bodies dispersed across the room. The more rowdy students rushed out of the door in an instant whilst the rest shuffled into groups, packing their bags with ease as they conversed with another.

You stuffed your hand into your pocket to pull out your phone. A bright and cheery notification from Kitty beamed proudly on your screen. You opened the app, ready to reply, only to hesitate. You needed to pee. Real bad. Your eyes anxiously glimpsed at the classroom door. You didn't like using the campus toilets - especially right after class, for that was when they were busiest. But you knew your bladder wouldn't be able to hold much longer. You shuffled out of your seat and left to find the nearest bathroom.

You felt awkward. Inferior to everyone. All the other students strode down the college corridor with total confidence, chatting away endlessly and cracking jokes with their friends. Meanwhile, you walked alone; head tilted down, refusing eye contact, hand squeezing your arm nervously. You wished you were invisible. You didn't want anyone to look at you or notice how much of loser you were. Your line of sight remained fixated on the ground as you timidly meandered past the loud groups of people.

Your phone softly vibrated against you. A faint reminder that you weren't entirely alone. Your internet friends were always with you, always talking to you, always waiting for you, always just a few taps away. You pulled out your phone again, using it as a source of comfort against the harrowing isolation that was college. Kitty was online.

Your fingers drummed excitedly against the sleek surface of your smartphone, a small smile making its way on to your face. It was always a relief to have Kitty to text during stressful times at school. As you mindlessly texted away, you suddenly felt your face slam into something hard. Caught off guard by the sudden barrier, you quickly looked up to realise you had bumped straight into the chest of a male student. You didn't dare look him in the face. Your head remained hung in shame as his azalea-coloured gaze fixated on to you.

"S-sorry!! I'm really sorry." you stammered in a panic.

Unbeknownst to you, the boy you had so carelessly walking into was none other than the very user you had just been conversing with mere seconds ago. Koda resisted a shiver down his spine as he watched you feebly apologise before him. It was you. Really you. His love. His soulmate. Right here. Right now. In front of his very eyes. Less than an arm's reach away. And you touched him. Your very physical being touched him! Again! He could barely comprehend what you were saying, for he was far too distracted replaying the moment inside his head. Your head... against his chest? Surely this was his lucky day. Not one but two instances of contact? His usual aloof expression shifted into an equally panicked expression as he felt his cheeks flush a soft pink.

To bump into you directly like this was a rare and overstimulating experience. He wanted to engulf you entirely; become one with you, feel you in his arms, cradle you like a sacred treasure, entangle you in his love until you could never escape. However, he didn't want to be rough. That was a last resort.

"No, it's okay! It was my fault. I wasn't looking where I was going. Are you alright?"

His voice was soft and soothing, even as it trembled. He raised his hand slightly, contemplating another touch, but you didn't give him the chance.

"I'm okay, thank you! I'll be going now. Sorry again!!"

You darted past him and hurried to the restroom.

How embarrassing. How could you walk into someone like that? He must think your a creep. A weirdo. You looked terrible today. He's probably laughing at you with his mates, making jokes about how gross you looked... Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Though, contrary to your self-loathing, Koda thought very much the opposite. His heart fluttered with jovial excitement. He hesitantly raised his hand to his chest, savouring the pounding sensation. This was love. Real love. He was certain of it. The fact that you had the capabilities of making him feel such a way was proof of it. In a world saturated with hollow individuals and their carefully constructed facades, you stood out as the sole beacon of authenticity. The only real person to his universe.

"Woahh. I think Koda over here has a little crush~" sneered Kai, resting his arm across Koda's shoulders in a playful manner. "I've never seen so much expression on your face before. I think I even saw a little bit of blush there."

Koda frowned, his mood instantly draining from his body. He moved Kai's arm away from him in irritation.

"..."

"Aww come on. We're friends, right? You got nothing to be embarrassed about. We're not in elementary school anymore. Although, I didn't think that sort of person would be your type... I mean I'm sure they're nice but aren't they like... a little plain-looking?"

"Don't be an asshole."

Kai raised his hands up sarcastically.

"Sorry! sorry! I'm a nice guy I swear! Haha. Was just tryna make conversation with my best friend."

Best friend? Koda recoiled at the thought. Even if he was willing to play into the charade of being of friendly terms with Kai, the very idea of anointing someone as insufferable as him as his best friend was utterly inconceivable. That title already belonged to you. Koda's bitterness toward Kai ran deep, but this interaction only deepened it more. A burning resentment grew inside of him as Kai's degrading remarks about you echoes through his mind. Had they been alone in a more secluded place - a place with no cameras, not witnesses - Koda would have made him pay.
Koda's eyes hazed over with macabre darkness as he quietly observed Kai joking around and pestering his other friends.

He wondered how satisfying it would be to surgically remove Kai's jaw. That way he wouldn't be able to run his mouth like he always did. It would be beneficial for everyone. A kai that didn't speak. But then, his mind turned to something else. His expression softened and his eyes became glossy and bright, like a child caught in awe-struck wonder. He glanced back down the corridor, his thoughts circling you entirely. He wanted to hunt you down. Protect you. Ensure that you were safe from nuisances. It was almost like a game to him. A gentle smile returned to his face.
