—A MAID LET jaehaera into rhaenyra's chambers. at the sound of the door opening rhaenyra looked up and gave jaehaera a smile, which she returned.
"how is he?" jaehaera asked, talking about little joffery. she walked over and sat on a cushion, opposite to rhaenyra.
at the same time rhaenyra replied, "healthy, kicking like a goat." rhaenyra smiled down at her youngest son with such love that it warmed jaehaera's heart.
"how was labour? was it bearable?" jaehaera asked, tilting her head to the side slightly. a few tears back, rhaenyra had told jaehaera about her mothers passing and rhaenyra's constant fear it's going to happen to her.
"it was painful but bearable." rhaenyra told jaehaera with a small smile after she had looked back at the girl.
jaehaera nodded before speaking, "good, good...i tried to be with you but your maid told me-"
"you weren't allowed in." rhaenyra finished for her, remembering the words she told her maid to not let jaehaera in because she didn't want jaehaera to see something like that.
jaehaera's eyebrows raised before she realised at the look on rhaenyra's face, "ah, all that matters now is that you and the baby are in good health." jaehaera smiled at the mother and son, while the mother returned the smile.
