Flashback ~ Marcel P.O.V. ~

It had been quieter now that Leviathan had left briefly to meet with his brood of children causing a sigh to escape my lips as I looked around the jazz house with a glass of bourbon held loosely in my hand.

Things had changed so much since Leviathan had shown up that day over a decade ago. I had finally found my other half when a part of me had believed that only Rebekah would hold that spot in my life.

"You seem deep in thought," said a voice to my side. "Penny for your thoughts? Or even a name considering it was you I was told to find when pulling up here in New Orleans."

Turning I was surprised to see Damon Salvatore before me, how could I not know him considering the photos Levi carries with him, making rage boil deep in my gut.

And yet I placed a warm charming smile on my face as I turned to fully face the other vampire while gesturing my hands outward in grander. Levi would have been amused.

"That would be me," I answered with a light chuckle. "King of New Orleans. Names Marcel though I don't believe I caught your name at all my friend."

"Damon Salvatore," answered Damon offering his hand eyes glinting as he watched me. "Truthfully I was wondering if you could help me find someone."

"Oh?" I asked smile strained so letting it fall as I raised an eyebrow.

"Leviathan Salvatore," answered Damon. "Heard he came by this way from a mutual friend. Looks a bit like me just shorter and more feminine."

"Can't say I have," I answered lie coming easily from me. "But tell you what. The moment I see or hear about this Leviathan I will let you know."

"See that is funny," cut in Damon smile sharp and eyes hard. "Considering I have heard mention that others have seen him here. With you to be exact."

"Caught me," I laughed before the smile fell and I flashed forward with my hand wrapped tightly around his throat. "Which means I don't need to hide the fact that you are unwelcome."

"Leviathan is my brother," snarled out Damon with a choked breath. "It is more than in my right to see him."

"To what?" I asked with a bitter laugh.

This reminded me too much of the family and sire who had left me to die.

"To hurt him? Maybe use him as a punching bag once more? I know how you are Damon Salvatore, and I will not allow you to hurt him."

"At least tell me he is happy," said Damon all fight leaving him slumped against the wall. "Stefan and I both messed up and I realize that now. But at least tell me that Levi has found happiness without us there to drag him down."

"Leviathan is happy," I answered shoving him further into the wall as I released him. "Now leave. I refuse to let you bring him back down."

Damon didn't refute the order only bowed his head before flashing off into the night. I refused to let this get back to Leviathan who would spiral back into what ifs after he had finally begun to heal from the deep wound Damon and Stefan left upon him.

End of Flashback ~ Marcellus P.O.V. ~

"You almost sound like you didn't miss me," I teased arm wrapped loosely around Levi's shoulders as we sat comfortably upon the couch. "Then again it has been centuries since I last saw a Mikaelson."

"We believed you dead," stated Elijah as he fixed the cuffs of his shirt. "But that is not the point of why we are here."

"No, that would be the one beside you," agreed Niklaus stormy blue eyes flashing. "I find it funny that after that meeting, when you first turned, you had found so much out about my family and my curse."

"Well I had nothing but time," answered Leviathan with a negligent wave as he relaxed beside me. "Marcellus only mentioned you briefly and that was when we had first met and then one other time later on in our relationship."

"I try to not focus on the past," I agreed mind roving back on Davina who was keeping the witches in line while my second in command stood in my place.

"But in truth I won't be able to stay long."

"Come the full moon we will enact the ritual," said Niklaus eyes finally leaving mine to focus on Leviathan. "Your witch brood can find a way for Elena Gilbert to come back alive where she will then be compelled to keep herself safe and happy so I can get my blood. Maybe eventually settle down with a human boy to continue the Petrova line."

"Actually," cut in Leviathan as he leaned forward slightly. "Ryder my wild one has come to realize that Elena isn't the only current Doppelganger. It seems another type of ancient spell is going on that has at least two appear per decade or century meaning in truth over time there could have been dozens of them."

"And in all that time I have never found one outside of Katerina and now Elena?" demanded Niklaus.

I could see why that would enrage him considering his want to be rid of the curse placed upon him. But that also begged the question, was there another getting in the way of making sure Niklaus never breaks the curse? More than possible when it came to witches who even from the dead acted like they were Gods.

"Esther," answered Leviathan with a deep sigh and shake of his head. "Even from the dead your mother has a large pool to allow her to meddle."

"Even dead the woman will not let me have peace," snarled Niklaus eyes shifting and fangs appearing. "Can I not have happiness?!"

"She cannot meddle any longer," reassured Leviathan breaking Niklaus from his rage.

It was surprising how quick Niklaus was to calm with the sound of Levi's voice. Made a part of me worried considering how charming and crafty Niklaus could be when going after things he wanted.

"I have more than enough strong witches and warlocks to help me make sure of that."

Niklaus stared before throwing his head back in loud laughter.
