aurora and her brother were in the kitchen close to midnight eating ramen while updating each other about what happened during the weekend they spent away. she had explained how jalil asked her out not leaving a detail out living the moment again in her head. "see i knew the 'just friends' act was bullshit" her brother called out making her laugh. "yeah i can't lie for shit"

the two siblings continued to talk for what felt like forever. the two always had a special bond with each other considering the fact that most of the time it was only them in the house. when they were the only people at the house they would take that time to talk to each other and catch up on moments that they would miss out on.

aurora always had a very special spot in her heart for her brother. when her dad and her mom were still together and they would argue he would always distract the young girl. he had always prioritized the girl's innocence before his taking his role as a big brother. when aurora got older and realized how he had took care of her she couldn't have appreciated him more.

"the videos for the tournament came out and you were in almost every frame" bryson complained making aurora laugh. she hasn't watched the videos yet but she knew she was in a lot of the clips which she still couldn't comprehend sometimes. if you had told her a couple months ago this was her life now she would have never believed you, and rightfully so. it would be pretty shocking to believe that someone who could hardly keep conversations with people was now friends with a famous youtuber and basketball players, and dating one of the said famous basketball players.

"you wish that was you huh" her brother had pretended to start crying making aurora laugh. aurora had missed moments like these with her brother. she had been busy hanging out with her friends and her brother who also had his own life they hardly had time to spend together. the hudges household was empty almost 70% of the time now.

while her and her brother were talking they heard the front door open. aurora had turned around to see her father walking through the door she assumed coming from work. "dad your finally back" aurora stated looking over to the man who had a tired expression on his face.

"rora hi baby. nice to see you" her dad greeted walking over to give the girl a hug while she returned. when she let go their dad had walked over to the island fixing himself a glass of water. aurora had noticed the nervous and worried look on his face. she wanted to think it was because he had just got back from work but her gut was telling her something else.

"dad are you ok?" aurora questioned looking over to the man who had whipped his head around to her after hearing the girls question. "um yeah. i just have something to tell you guys" her dad admitted making a concerned look appear on both of the teens faces.

her dad had walked over to them slowly hesitating on what he was about to say. "dad is everything alright? your scaring me" her brother told him making aurora nod her head in agreement. "yes everything's fine but aurora there's something i need to tell you" her dad said making nerves flow all over her body. her brother had rubbed her back reassuringly trying to help the girl stay calm.

"it's about your mom" her dad breathed out making aurora heart start beating faster and her chest started moving more rapidly. "dad what is it" aurora asked once again more frustrated trying to know what her dad was trying to say.

"your mom got half custody over you, meaning every other weekend you'll be over at her house" her dad finally spat out making aurora heart sink. her brother looked at her with a worried expression on his face. thoughts had started spiraling around auroras mind going faster by the second. "dad are you serious? please tell me this is just a joke dad please" she stated her breathing getting heavier as she felt a knot forming in her stomach.
