The Academy Lovers

Chapter Two: Their Beginning

It was the second day of school and everyone was excited for classes to finally be over. It was 4:30 pm. Classes had ended an hour ago. Lucy walked into Mr. Conbolt's classroom noticing Natsu sulking. She took a seat next to him.

"H-h-hey Natsu." She said shyly. He glanced at her for a couple of seconds and then he gave her a smile.

"Hey Luce. Only you can make me smile on this gloomy day." He said with a depressed face.

"What's wrong N-natsu?" She asked not daring to meet his eyes.

"Lisanna broke up with me today. She ignored me during the day and then she texted me saying she was tired of me. I later caught her making out with Bickslow." He said and sighed.

"I'm s-sor-" She never got the chance to finish because Natsu pulled her into a tight embrace. She didn't know what to do because this was the first time a boy wanted a hug from her. Especially surprising that the guy was Natsu. She very shyly and gently rubbed his back. She felt tears on her shoulder and she knew that he was crying.

" I'm really sorry for what happened. You can let go now." He hugged her tighter. "Just a little longer, please?" She blushes a dark shade of red. "O-ok" Was all she could say.

" By the way, why are you still in school? Shouldn't you be home by now?" He asked releasing her from the hug.

"I was going to finish my homework, turn it in and read for a while." She replied looking around the room to avoid his gaze.

He gently took her hand and helped her to her feet. "Can you help me then? I won't copy its just that I don't get some of the material." He asked and smiled trying to put her at ease.

"S-sure" she stuttered. They both finishes in what didn't seen like more than five minutes. Natsu was amazed at Lucy's intelligence.

" Cute and smart?" Nastu asked with a smirk which caused Lucy to blush a dark pink. He slightly laughed. "W-what?" Lucy asked a little scared.

" You're just too adorable for words Luce." He grinned making her blush even more. Lucy looked out the window hoping he wouldn't see how red her face was.

Natsu remembered what Lisanna told Lucy yesterday. He moved closer to Lucy, who was oblivious to what he was doing.
He grabbed Lucy's chin to make her look at him. Lucy hated looking at people in the eye. Every time she did, someone yelled at her 'What are you looking at nerd?!' so she never looked at people.

"Have you kissed anyone before?"

"N-no." Was all she could reply. She was embarrassed because everyone has already had their first kiss. "I'm a nerd so nobody wants to kiss me" she said looking down. Her eyes became watery.

"Its not fun being a nerd y'know. All the popular people picking on us. Its worse that I don't have friends to comfort or support me. I try to make friends but it doesn't work. Everyone just ignores or make fun of me!" Lucy felt a tear slip.

" Well today is your lucky day." He gave her a geniune smile.Lucy looked at him confused. "Because I'm your friend."
