Her Sweet Sixteen was a small gather, Maria and her friends played some board games, sang karaoke, and did a drinking game (with juice, her mom found the hidden bottles). But her mind kept going back to Logan, who wasn't there.
-I guess he really doesn't care about me anymore— Maria said sadly to Sandra, her female best friend when the party ended.
-Something might've happened— Sandra comforted her.
-It's fine, I don't care— said in denial.
-Just tell him how you feel
-I already have
-No, you haven't-What am I supposed to say?—she crossed her arms— "Hey, sorry your girlfriend left you, but she was right because I'm in love with you"? He'd hate me for it— she said angrily throwing a paper to the trash can, missing it
-Mari... can't you tell he feels the same?— Sandra held Maria's hands
-No, he resents me for her dumping him...
-I don't think so...
-Otherwise his behavior makes no sense...his friendship would be enough for me— she pouted
-Maybe he fell asleep or died, I don't know— Maria laughed a bit at her friend's joke.
-It's fine, I have other friends, real friends like you who came— Maria hugged Sandra.
-Yeah but, still, I...
-Plus, my outfit is gorgeous— she spun around to show her black corset and brown leather skirt— I won't let any guy or ex-best friend ruin my mood-she frowned.
-That's my beautiful daughter!
-Mom— Maria said embarrassed
-Don't worry, I heard nothing— her mom winked at Sandra, making her laugh— thanks for cheering my baby up.
-That's what I do— she hugged Maria again-Anyways, sis, I gotta go
-Okay, text me when you're home!
-Sweetie, I will finish cleaning, go relax in your room, you must be tired— her mom pet her back— you want me to call Jenna?
-No, if my aunt asks, just tell her he came..."Teenage love... kids always complicate themselves too much", said her mom while sweeping.
Maria went upstairs, to her room, nostalgic, the last time Logan visited it was the day before Rachel left him, three months ago. But she could still feel him there, his laugh, his sweet embrace, his voice...
Her teary eyes went to the pink rabbit Logan gave her a couple years ago. "He really didn't care" she sobbed while hugging the rabbit. Someone knocked the door.
-Come in— said wiping her tears rapidly.
-Mari...— it was Logan, agitated, he had sad eyes and a tiny box in his hands. It took Maria a few seconds to react, his looks felt different, giving her shivers...she was hypnotized.
Little did he know, that silk shirt had always had an effect on her.
