"She's too quiet

"She's too quiet." Kendall leaned against the door frame, Brielle to my right as we all stared at Val the hermit. She doesn't leave her room when she's home from work, bathroom breaks excluded.

"That's what I said." Brielle mumbled. She was here longer than Kendall cause I called her first. I figured she would know what's wrong with Val more than Kendall did.

"I can hear you." Val turned, leaving us facing her back as she stared at the wall.

"I'd hope so, you're too young for hearing loss." Kendall cocked her head to the side, and Brielle pinched her arm.

"We just wanted to see what was wrong, sweetheart." Brielle stepped into the room, sitting on the edge of Val's bed.

"I'm just peachy." Val pulled her comforter over her head, and Brielle rubbed her lower leg.

I heard Kendall's acrylic nails tapping against the wood, and then she snapped her fingers. "Did you and Jackson have your first fight?" She asked, and Val snatched the covers from over her head.

I clenched my fist at the mention of his name. I haven't seen Val as often as I wanted because of him. He's at the top of my shit list probably for the next year.

"Did he tell you we're having a fight?!" She squinted her eyes, and Kendall held her hands up.

"I haven't talked to him since my auditions. I wouldn't know." Val let out a loud groan and flopped against her bed.

"No, we aren't having a fight. It was a misunderstanding." She sighed, picking up her phone.

"Do you know?" Brielle mouthed to me, and I shook my head.

"Diary time." Val called out their safe word, and Kendall stepped in and closed the door, leaving me on the outside.

Diary time for them is private girl ranting time. All I know is that it's mostly in bathrooms at events. And as much as I wanted to eavesdrop, I had to respect it. She normally told me the gist afterward anyway.

So I waited. And waited. And waited some more. When Kendall and Brielle finally came out, Kendall was pissed and Brielle looked like she had been scarred.

"We have to go." Brielle muttered as she walked past me. "He's dead to me." I heard Kendall add as she stormed out of the house.
