NICO F.
HOME"Hey Nico." Bri waved as she helped Val carry in bags from their shopping trip. I sat on the couch, my thumbs working across the control as I played Call of Duty.
"Sup." I nod my head, not looking away from the screen. Val came in a few seconds later, holding more bags.
They went into the kitchen and I heard them laughing loudly about whatever happened on the trip. When my match was over, I got up and joined them. Val was sitting on the kitchen counter, wearing a pair of ripped jeans and a white tank with a blue cardigan with white hearts on it.
I lean on the counter next to her, and she holds her hand out, revealing a ring. "Look at what my wife bought me today." She squealed, and I took her hand and examined the ring.
It was beautiful, with a rose gold band and a pink jewel. I give Brielle a glare when Val went to use the bathroom. She held her hands up defensively and laughed.
"Step your game up, buddy. I might take your wife from you." She wiggled her brows, and I resisted the urge to kick her out.
"She isn't my wife." Unfortunately. Brielle rolled her eyes, going into our fridge and grabbing a wine cooler.
"The only person who doesn't know she's your wife yet is your wife. Just saying, there's no harm in telling her." She says, keeping her voice low.
Brielle was probably the only person who knew how I felt about Val. She figured it out in college when Val started dating for the first time and she heard just how jealous I was.
"It's complicated." I mutter, not pushing the topic further.
"Let me make something clear. Kendal hooked Val up with one of her fashion friends, and he seems like a decent person. Granted he isn't you, but still. You know how Val is." Bri snapped her fingers, and I knew what she meant.
Time was ticking, but as Val came out of the bathroom, I was full of conflicted thoughts.
"Well, it was fun, but I have work to do." Brielle waved, showing herself out of our apartment.
Val went to put her things away in her closet, and I resumed my time on the game. She didn't come out of her room for a few hours, minus the time she spent in the bathroom for her shower. When she came out again, it was getting dark.
"You want anything to eat? I'm getting Yao's." I ask her when she walked into the kitchen.
She filled a cup full of ice, dark circles under her eyes. It was a drastic change from what she was like earlier. "No thanks, not hungry." She shrugged, putting an ice cube in her mouth.
