In the "Republic" written by Plato, it describes that the importance of being just in the world, and by being just, one is happy. In book 1, two people have their own definition of justice which were "To give back what is owed to each is just." and "To do well to friends and to do ill to enemies...". On the other hand in book 2, Glaucon who is Plato's brother, argued to Socrates that people are just only because they fear punishment. To illustrate, he tells the story of Gyges, a shepherd who finds a ring that makes him invisible. Gyges uses this power to commit unjust acts, like seduction and murder, without fear of retribution. Glaucon argues that anyone, given such power, would act unjustly because it's in human nature to do so when there are no consequences. He also added that, justice is not inherently valuable but only valued for its consequences. Glaucon's argument was supported by Adeimantus, who is also a brother of Plato, and stated that justice is good because of the rewards it brings, both in this life and the afterlife. He points out that poets and religious figures emphasize the external rewards of justice, not its intrinsic value...
There's no exact definition of justice, even Socrates in the Republic have more questions and suggestions than a define answer. So, thinking about it, are demon slayers just for slaying demons or are demons unjust for turning into something beyond their control?
