Alex was in her parents place, not that far from the compound. Bucky had been staying there with her for the last few weeks, both enjoying how there relationship was working out between them.

It was the middle of the night, her nad Bucky had been up for most of it, talking, laughing then some amazing sex to end it. He had finally fallen asleep, but then something had woken Alex. She opened her eyes, listening to the darkness around her in the room. She could hear Bucky's breathing, as he lay half naked in the bed with her.

There was something different about the house.

Alex carefully slipped out of the bed, and put on the t-shirt that Bucky had left lying there, with her own panties. Before heading out of the room, and stopping in the hallway, listening again.

She could hear the grandfather clock ticking away, but there was something else, almost like a light humming.

Carefully, and quietly, Alex walked around the house, finding the noise was actually coming from the basement. This was part of the house that she had never been allowed to venture into as a child. It had been where her father worked most of the time on inventions. She took a deep breath, the pushed open the door, before flicking on the light, and looking down the stairs.

The humming was a little louder now.

In her bare feet, and just a t-shirt, she padded down the wooden steps, stopping at the bottom, and looking aruond at everything. The tables were covered in a thick layer of dust, their was boxes in corners, with cobwebs over them, and a large table in the middle, with a sheet half covering it. Computers, electronics, and filing cabinets.

Everything the working genius ought to have in the work place.

It reminded her of Tony's workshop.

Causing her to chuckle, as she realied how much Tony was very much like his father.

The humming was still coming from the room, it was in the furthest corner. Alex took another deep breath, then headed in the direction, switching on another light on this side, finding there was also large shield boxes here.

For a moment, everything had gone silent.

There was no noise now, nothing coming from the boxes anymore.

Maybe she had imagined it. She turned the light back off, turning to leave the basement, when she noticed a faint bright light coming from the under the wall.

"What the hell?" She stated.

Alex placed her hands on it, finding it wasn't brickwork like the others, this was something else. Looking around, she quickly grabbed something large and heavy from under a table, swinging it around and hitting the wall. It smashed off it, causing dust and brick to chip off, and she knew it wouldn't be long before Bucky heard the noise. But she done it again, swinging hard, and this time, denting it.
After another three swings, she was finally through, finding there was a hole in the wall, and inside was a box. Breaking the hole wide, she then reached in and pulled it free.

Alex coughed a little as the dust flew around. She looked at the wooden box, and blew the dust from the top. It was mahogony, and had beautiful detailing around the lid, with gold corners, and a gold lock on the front, reminding her of one of her mother's jewellery boxes.

Alex walked over to the large desk, pushing aside the items on there, and placing it down, she looked again, finding cutters, and sniped the lock from the front. Before reaching down and opening it up.

Inside, there was something bright and gold sat on a dark cushion. Closely looking at it, she saw it was like a scarab, or the very least, half of it. As she reached out to pick it up, the thing fluttered its lonely wing, causing the humming sound to start once more, and the room began glowing where it was hovering over its cushion.

"What are you?" She questioned to herself.

Her eyes adjusted and she saw something white sticking out from the velvet on the lid. She reached over and pulled it out, as the scarab lay back down again.

It was an envelope, with her father's writing on the front.

Alexandria.

With shaking hands, she fumbled to open it, pulling the paper from inside, finding there was a map and a letter. She couldn't believe this, opening it up, and seeing his writing there, for her.

Alexandria, if you are reading this, I am clearly no longer with you. I'm sorry for not believing in the gifts that you had. You were a true explorer, never change that. And you were my greatest achievement, you and your brother. I am so proud of you both. I wish I had told you more often.
However, if you have this, and I'm assuming you are, its because you have discovered the Gold Scarab. There is only half, meaning out there, is the other half. When its time, this will take you to the place you need to be. I couldn't find the other half, but I think you can.
Alexandria, it will take you to the lost treasure of Alexander III.
Rumours were, it will show you treasure beyond anyones imagination. But, caution, you won't be the only one looking for this. I know you can do this daughter, this is what you were born to do. To keep it safe from dangerous hands. This was something mankind was never meant to have, they just aren't ready for the power.
I love you my beautiful girl.
Dad.

Tears were trickling down her face, as she stood there in front of the table, looking at the half scarab as it fluttered once more. She lightly touched it, feeling the spark run through her, watching as it once more settled on the cushion.

She took a deep breath, closed the lid, and headed upstairs to her parents room, her father's voice ringing through her ears, and the sound of Bucky's heavy breathing coming from her room, she felt a wave of emotions, as she sat there, on the floor in front of the large white four-poster bed, silently crying.
