I've always been right in my judgments about people. And the two women with me are complete opposites. One was made for this world, and the other is what this world consumes.

Ava is selfish and self-centered, while Aria is scared and timid. Ava and I are about to leave, but Aria hasn't asked to come with us. She must think that staying in a house full of corpses is better than coming with me.

She's an adult; I won't force her. I grab two guns and some food. Ava takes almost all the remaining guns and supplies.

"Slow down. Take only what you need. I'm not carrying all of that for you," I warn her.

She immediately unloads her bag, begrudgingly.

I head outside, retrieve the car from the garage, and load it up.

I glance back at Aria. She's not my concern, but I find myself doing the opposite of what's on my mind when it comes to her.

"Get a bag, load it with what you need, and get in the car. You have five minutes, Aria," I order.

"What? No, you can't take her. She'll slow us down and get us killed," Ava complains, revealing her selfish nature.

"I'll take and leave whoever I want. You're welcome to stay if you don't approve," I shoot her a death stare. She opens her mouth to protest but closes it back up. As she should, am tired of hearing her voice.

Aria gets up without a word and begins to pack. She must be used to following orders, not thinking for herself. That's one of the reasons she won't last long.

I drive for four hours before reaching my destination. I'm not sure what I'm looking for. The last time I was here was five years ago, before I was arrested. I was nineteen then.

"Wait in the car. Don't make any noise. If you see anything, honk once," I instruct the girls.

I step out and survey the area outside the house. Everything seems normal, so I approach the front door and enter. The house is dark, all the lights off-either someone turned them off or no one is home.

I draw my gun, ready for anything. The house is empty, so I turn on the lights. The pictures on the walls catch my eye.

My girlfriend from five years ago is in them, along with her new family-two children and my best friend. I understand she moved on, but with my best friend? That's messed up. And judging by how old the kids are, it didn't take her long to fuck him. I'm the bigger fool for having hoped for something different.

I've gotten my closure, so I leave the house and head back to the car. I drive off to God knows where.
