Ava
I despise Ronan. If he weren't so fixated on humiliating me at every turn, we could have been perfect together. But instead, he has made my life a nightmare. And now Liam, the so-called doctor, has ruined my chances. Apparently, I'm not as special as I thought.
I should have gone for Liam instead of Marcus. Marcus is utterly useless. And Aria-what does she bring to the group? She has no fighting skills, no practical skills, nothing. Yet, everyone seems to rally around her, defending her at every turn. Why?
Earlier, when Marcus discovered my lies, he actually apologized to Ronan and Aria. Now, with the men out searching for a place to settle, I'm stuck alone with Aria. Ronan locked me in the car and handed the keys over to her.
She convinced Ronan not to abandon me, arguing that I'd made a mistake. For some unfathomable reason, he listens to her.
Now, here I am, at Aria's mercy. She must think I'm grateful, but the truth is, I loathe her for stealing my position and everything I desire.
If I were out there with her, I'd kill her and claim a zombie got her. But Ronan is too perceptive. He sees right through me, and it drives me mad.
Two hours after the men left, two zombies shamble toward us. I hope they end her. Aria has never killed one before, so the odds might be in my favor.
"Want me to help you? Just let me out," I offer with a sickly sweet smile.
She rolls her eyes at me and heads toward the zombies. I can't help but relish the prospect of watching her struggle. This might be the most fun I've had in days.
