I lay in bed, staring at the ceiling as the first light of dawn crept into Amélie's apartment. I hadn't slept much, my mind racing with thoughts of everything that had happened. But even though I felt restless, there was this warmth beside me that made it all a little easier to handle.

Amélie was curled up next to me, her arms wrapped around me like she knew exactly how much I needed it. Every time my thoughts started spiraling, she'd pull me back with just her touch, keeping me grounded. The steady rhythm of her breathing was calming, and even though I was wide awake, it made me feel safe. I needed that.

As the morning light grew brighter, I finally let my eyes close, too exhausted to keep them open any longer. For a few moments, I drifted in and out of sleep, comforted by Amélie's presence.

Eventually, I felt her start to stir, her body shifting slightly, and then her arms tightened around me. I turned my head to look at her, and there she was, those sleepy, beautiful eyes meeting mine. My heart skipped a beat.

"Good morning, pretty," she whispered, her voice all husky and soft from sleep. She brushed a strand of hair out of my face and smiled at me in that way that made everything feel a little more okay.

"Morning," I whispered back, trying to ignore the butterflies in my stomach. "Did you sleep well?"

"I did, but it looks like someone didn't," she said, her eyes searching mine with concern.

I shrugged, not wanting to make a big deal out of it. "I just had a lot on my mind. But you made it easier. Thanks for letting me stay with you."

Her smile grew, and she leaned in to press a kiss to my forehead. "Of course, Billie. I'm here for you."

We stayed like that for a while, just holding each other. It was peaceful, and for the first time in a long time, I felt like I could just be. But as much as I wanted to stay in bed forever, I knew I couldn't.

"Let's do something today," Amélie suggested, breaking the silence. "Something to take your mind off everything, even if it's just for a little while."

I hesitated, feeling guilty about the idea of distracting myself. But the way she looked at me, so full of understanding, made me realize that maybe I needed it more than I thought.

"Okay," I agreed, nodding. "Let's go out."

We got dressed, and I threw on something more comfortable than the dress I'd worn the night before. Stepping out of the apartment, the fresh air hit me, and for the first time in what felt like days, I could breathe a little easier.

Amélie led the way through the streets of Paris, pointing out little cafes and boutiques as we walked hand in hand. It felt like we were in our own little world, just the two of us. For a while, I let myself get lost in it, in her.

But it didn't last long.

As we turned a corner, I noticed a group of photographers up ahead. The moment they spotted us, their cameras started flashing. My heart sank. I wasn't ready for this, for everything to be out in the open, especially not now.

How could I be so stupid. I totally forgot that I can't just go out, without being followed. I was so lost in the moment that I didn't use my two braincells to remember that we shouldn't walk hand in hand, cause paparazzi would find us.

"Amélie, we need to go," I whispered, squeezing her hand a little tighter.

She nodded, already pulling me in the opposite direction. We tried to lose them, weaving through the streets, but they kept following us. The cameras were relentless, and all I wanted was to disappear.

Finally, we managed to slip into a side street and quickly made our way back to her apartment. By the time we got inside, I was out of breath, my heart pounding in my chest.

"Are you okay?" Amélie asked, turning to me with that same worried look in her eyes.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I said, though I wasn't sure if I was trying to convince her or myself. "I just... I wasn't ready for that."

"Me neither, how did they find us so quick?" she said, looking genuinely upset.

"It's not your fault," I reassured her, trying to calm down. "I guess I should've expected it, being who I am and all. I just totally forgot"

She stepped closer, taking my hands in hers. "It's not fair that you have to deal with this, especially right now."

I looked into her eyes, feeling the sincerity behind her words. Somehow, just hearing her say that made the weight on my chest feel a little lighter. "Thank you," I whispered, my voice catching in my throat.

Amélie didn't say anything else. Instead, she leaned in and kissed me, softly at first, like she was giving me the chance to pull away if I wanted to. But I didn't want to. I kissed her back, letting the tension in my body melt away with each passing second.

The kiss deepened, becoming more intense, and I let myself get lost in it. I needed this, needed her. Her hands slid up to cup my face, and I could feel myself starting to relax in a way I hadn't all night.

When we finally pulled back, we were both breathing heavily, our foreheads resting against each other.

"Do you want to talk about it?" she asked softly, her voice barely above a whisper.

I shook my head. "Not right now. I just... I just want to be with you."

She nodded, understanding without needing any more words. She took my hand and led me back to the bedroom. We lay down on the bed and Amélie leaned in and kissed me again. This time on my cheek, and finally on my lips. The kisses were soft, sweet, and they made me feel like I was cherished in a way that was completely new to me.

I kissed her back, pulling her closer. The warmth between us grew, filling the room with this energy that was both calming and electric at the same time. I let myself sink into the moment, trusting her completely to take care of me, to be there for me.
