When Vincenzo woke me up as promised, he was already dressed up in a three-piece suit: a black shirt with beige coat and pants, and an analogue watch of brown belt on his left wrist. His slightly grown hairs were carelessly pushed back. He smelled of fresh shower and perfume that was really doing a number on me.
I extended my arms out for him. Vincenzo chuckled and wrapped me up in a warm hug.
"Going for a meeting with a boner is going to be both distracting and embarrassing, you know?"
"We're just hugging," I mumbled in his neck. He smelled so nice.
"You're naked."
"Nothing you haven't seen before."
"But everything that turns me on."
"You win," I laughed, breaking the hug and pulled the sheets to my chest.
Vincenzo cupped my cheeks and kissed my forehead. "I'm leaving now. I've made some spaghetti. There are fruits also in the fridge, and the contraceptive pill is in the bedside drawer. Eat something beforehand, alright?"
I nodded. "What time is it?"
"Eight."
"I have to get ready too. I have a lecture at 10," and I would have to talk with Aryanna about her bitch of a mother. Maybe if she hinted him first, it would give me the strength to tell him—no, I should tell him. I should tell him right now. He needed to know. His character as a person was being ripped. I should not wait anymore.
"Can I get a goodluck kiss? It's an important M&A meeting."
Should I? Now? And what if Eveline Wilson's shadow loomed over his meeting? What if it failed?
"How important is the meeting?"
"Months of work. And also important enough that I am going to have to leave my girlfriend alone and get my ass out of here in the next two minutes."
My heart grew heavy.
I kissed him and it felt like before I could register things, he was gone.
I put my head in my hands. I was so stupid. So utterly stupid. I should have told him. I should have told him last night. I should have told him the very day I saw and heard Eveline Wilson first.
Thoughts ran wild in my head while I freshened up and by the time I came out of shower, I had firmly decided that I'd explain everything to Aryanna, from what I heard in the restroom to what Eveline Wilson did at my home. I wouldn't care if we'd have to bunk a lecture. Aryanna needed to know before Eveline Wilson could manipulate her. And Vincenzo would know the right next time we meet.
I got ready in the clothes I'd bought here last night and while eating the delicious spaghetti made by my boyfriend, I checked my phone.
It was overflowing with the number of texts and calls I had from Aryanna, Mom, and Dad. There was also an unknown number. I decided to call it first, then I'd call Aryanna, then maybe Dad. I had no interest talking to Mom right now.
"Hello?" I called as soon as it was received.
"You finally called. Are you okay, Eloise?" It was Reyansh Vasudevan. Damn, I should have thought Aryanna would call me with an unknown number to see if I picked or not.
