I was in love with Vincenzo Rodriguez.

It didn't take much to know. His warm hand in mine, his chocolate-honey eyes on me, my lips on the back of his hand, and my heart said what it had to say. It didn't hesitate. It couldn't. It only sought truth. It knew what the mind tried to find reasons for.

Now I knew too. I was in love with this man who treated me like he cherished me. This man in whose eyes I see adoration for me. This man I loved. My man.

I kissed the back of his hand again with a different smile on my lips because the words echoed in my chest again.

I love you.

Vincenzo was my boyfriend and I wouldn't care about the longevity of us. Not tonight.

The drive was short, about fifteen minutes. It had too many turns for me remember but we entered an area where every house was picturesque and had quite a few millions tag dangling on it. The architecture was sleek and modern, shining with glasses and little warm lights and some with pool caustics as well. We stopped in front of one such house, the one that had tall compound wall with only taller plants peeking from behind it. Each section between the columns had one decorative wall light and they extended for a good distance on either sides of the massive gate.

I looked for a nameplate. There was only a blank space instead of a name. So this place really didn't have a name.

Vincenzo pulled out a remote from the glove box and with a single press of the button, the gates slid open.

"Are we trespassing?" is the first question I asked.

He laughed. "No, baby."

As we drove in, I couldn't help but marvel. It wasn't one of those mansions with useless foundations and endless rooms. It was more homey with two floors and limited rooms, but enough for a large family. It had square designs, a grey palatte, huge glass walls, decorative lights, but beside them, the entire building was bathed in dark.

The car stopped under the sun breakers. I hoped Vincenzo wasn't about to wake up whoever we were supposed to meet. Wait—my eyes widened.

"I'm in your boxers and hoodie. No bra. I can't meet someone," I said. "You said it'd just be the two of us. It's a date. We can't meet someone. It's against the rules."

Vincenzo brought my hand to his mouth and kissed my knuckles. "It's just the two of us. I promise."

We got down and from my side I could see an L-shaped pool and beautiful caustics reflecting off the house. "It's so beautiful," I said as I walked over to the pool. The full moon reflected against the caustics, glinting, highlighting them. The pool also had an attached sunken seating arrangement with a fireplace at the middle.

Vincenzo came to a stop beside me, hands in his pockets, eyes on me despite the luxury exquisites in front of us.

"Where are we?" I whispered.

He looked away at the pool or at the moon in the pool. "If I ever have a family, this is where I'd want us to live."

If he ever... something that came so naturally to me was a dream for him. He was already in his forties. Of course, a career or money wouldn't be his dream but stability and love that a family would bring him.
