Euggghh, I turned over to switch off my alarm, the tune annoyed me so much, suddenly Maddie came striding into my room as she had done every other day this week her hair unusually straight, Mum must have done it I thought. Maddie was a natural early riser and woke me up every morning once she was ready for the beach, I checked the alarm clock, she had come in 10 minutes earlier today than she had done yesterday. Why Maddie, Why? How was I supposed to know this was the day that 5 days from now i would never see my little sister alive again.
Maddie announced she had eaten her breakfast and I needed to get ready quickly so I would be ready in time for the first Punch and Judy show. I hurried with my shorts and vest top. I went down stairs and quickly shoved a rug, a little picnic and a few of maddie's beach toys into my ragged straw weaved bag my dad had got me from his latest trip to one of his country visits around the world. Living in California USA, it was sunny every day in the summer, so everyday clothing was beach wear, every baby, toddler, child, teen and adult hangs round at the beach together, swimming, sunbathing, and whatever any body wanted to do.
