(Narrator's P.O.V)
“The war between the two most powerful kingdoms was coming to an end; still, nobody can predict which side will have the last laugh.
In the midst of an excruciating war, two lovers unintentionally ran into each other.
The woman was a war medic from the western kingdom, and the man was the eastern kingdoms' prince.
Long before the war started, they fell in love at first sight and, unknowingly, hid their true identities from each other.
All they knew were each other's names and that they were deeply fond of one another.
That was enough.....
.........or was it?
Upon seeing each other again on the battlefield, they were horrified to see that they had different insignias pinned to their uniforms.
They refuse to believe that they had to make a choice.
To fight for their country or sacrifice their love.
Eventually, they ended up choosing neither, as both pretended not to see each other and thought that was the last time they would ever meet again.
However, fate had different plans because a year later, when the eastern kingdom flag was raised, signifying their victory, their worlds collided again.
This time, the prince was now crowned as the new king, while the woman, under a new name, was now working as a maid in his palace.
How may you ask? It was a pure coincidence.
The king was benevolent enough to let the remaining survivors of the western kingdom take shelter or find work in his country, and the woman just so happened to end up working in the palace.
But due to the destruction and losses the eastern kingdom suffered in the war, most easterners didn't welcome or accept westerners as a part of their community.
The discrimination was so severe for westerners that even if they weren't soldiers or contributors to the war, they were heavily shunned and ridiculed.
~~~~~~~~
A few months after the king's coronation, a rumor began circulating within the palace that a maid was seducing and bedding the king.
Enraged by these foolish claims, the elders of the higher council gave the king an ultimatum, which was to accept the arranged marriage with the southern princess.
I mean, for them, she is the embodiment of a fitting queen. Blessed with beauty, class, elegance, wealth, and rank.
A suitable woman to carry his heirs.
The king would've firmly rejected the engagement if not for the elders threatening to use the (quoting their words) ‘disgusting low-class leech from the enemy kingdom’ to be branded as a threat to the country and executed.
**Months passed**
“I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss your queen.”
As the couple kissed, many cheers and applause were heard from the crowd.
