The two patients sat in their room quietly, giving quick glances at each other as it grew a little more awkward.Hyunjin had already promised he wouldn't mention what happened, but at the same time he couldn't just ignore it all. "Who is Minho?" He wondered. Those agonizing cries replayed over and over in his head.
"You should get some rest, Jisung. You must be exhausted." Stated the taller boy.
Jisung shook his head and continued to stare blankly at his blankets that rested on his lap.
"It's okay, I don't usually sleep anyways."Hyunjin hummed and looked once again at jisung. "My mom used to tell me that when you don't sleep it gives you more time to think about the bad things."
"Well, even if I go to sleep it haunts me in my nightmares." Replied the small boy.
Hyunjin sighed in slight frustration.
He wanted to help, but he also had no idea what was even going on. How would he know what to say?"It's gonna be okay..I don't know what's wrong, but even when I leave you can always contact me. I'll give you my number!" He smiled at the boy in hopes of getting even the tiniest smile back.
"Leave? Are you not here long term?" Asked the brunette.
"Oh, I'm just here for some testing and they want to use me as an experiment basically. I'd say I'll be here for a few months." He said.
"Right.." Jisung laid back in his bed and stared at the ceiling. "I want to leave too.."
"Wait, so why can't you leave?" Hyunjin asked.
"I can..I'm an adult and have every right to leave, but I have CF and have lived in this hospital my whole life. If I was to leave now, I'd be bound to catch a sickness and die." He said while sighing and trying to hold back a tear.
Hyunjin let out a single "oh" and his heart melted for the younger. "So you've never even left the hospital? He asked with kind of a shocked tone.
Jisung shook his head "I've snuck out."
. His heart sunk, yet he couldn't help but smile as he remembered a time he had spent with Minho..•.
"I haven't been outside in years." The older quietly stated."We should go out further..maybe to a store?" Minho chuckled while looking at the shorter.
"Minho, we could get in trouble." Jisung said with concern.
"Jisung, we could die any time soon..don't you wanna die without regrets?"
Jisung looked up at his hyung with a small smile. "Of course I do..do you think you can handle it?"
Minho hummed before nodding. "If I can't then you will help me, right?"
.•.Jisung slowly let a few tears fall and hyunjin immediately jumped up.
"Oh I'm sorry! I didn't mean to trigger something!!" Hyunjin jumped out of his bed and made his way over to jisung's.
"No, I'm fine!" Jisung began laughing and stuck his feet out to push hyunjin away.
"Are you sure!?" The older asked.
The brunette nodded and continued laughing as he wiped his tears away and sniffled. "I'll tell you when the time is right, but I know that I shouldn't talk about it when I'm in this state."
Hyunjin nodded. "I understand."
The boy admired Jisung's smile. It was so luminous and beautiful.
"Has anyone ever told you that your smile is shaped like a heart?" He said while chuckling.
"No, I don't think so?" Replied the younger.
"I want us to be good friends, okay?" Hyunjin walked back to his bed and faced the other boy.
Jisung nodded with a slight smile. "I'll try my best." He said while looking at the table by his bed.
He still had Minho's bracelet that they got before he passed. It basically collected dust on the table, but every time he would see it there it only made the lump in his throat grow.
Deep down jisung knew he wouldn't ever get the horrible thoughts out of his mind, but sooner or later he might be able to get the load off his shoulders and have someone to care for him.
