"And you know, for me, it's always you."

The sky was pitch dark, and enormous clouds were approaching me. I heard a tap on the window, which turned into a pitter-patter. As the clouds spat forth their droplets of water, people raced for safety outside, and umbrellas were opened. As the rain got stronger, puddles began to form. The cars' roofs were splattered with rain, and I could hear the rain muttering through the glass.

My legs tapped impatiently as I waited outside the hospital room along with Damien, Grayson, Noor, and Delilah as Emily gave birth inside the room. My heart worrying about her because, whether I like to admit it or not, she has always been like a sister to me.

But more than me, I was worried about Damien, who was pacing around the corridor like a madman. Me and Grayson tried to give him pep talk, but I could see the vulnerability and nervousness in his face. He was mostly called the immature one of our group, and I could only imagine how nerve-wracking it would be to have a child with a woman who's been his nemesis from literally his birth.

"Fuck, we haven't even decided a name for her yet. Emily and I don't agree on any of the names. What am I supposed to do?" He says worried, looking at me and Grayson.

And all we could do was laugh at our friend's misery.

Finally, after waiting for a long time, the nurses came outside with a small baby girl, who was looking as cute as ever. My heart warmed as Damien held the baby girl in his arms, his eyes filled with tears as he softly kissed her tiny little head and muttered prayers towards her, his eyes never leaving her little form.

"Can I...when can I see her?" He asks the nurse softly, his voice still cracking from the tears, and it was as if everything around him had disappeared, his eyes just trained towards the hospital room where Emily lay after giving birth.

"You can see her now, but please make sure not to overcrowd the room. We usually suggest the husband go see his wife along the child so you can have some privacy." The nurse explains in a kind tone, looking at Damien, who looked flustered at the term "husband.".

Everyone quietly chuckled as Damien shyly muttered that he wasn't her husband, yet.

The nurse nodded, chuckling at his shy tone, and then gestured him to go inside the room.

He nodded immediately, and then handed the little baby girl to Delilah's arms as he rushed towards Emily, who was laying on the bed, her eyes open as she smiles softly.

I saw her gasp as Damien pulled her in a tight hug, muttering something softly as he kissed her all over the face. She gently held his face in her hands as she wiped his tears, while tearing up on her own. It's like they were in their own world and had forgotten that there were people standing and looking at them.

But I couldn't help but feel my heart warm at the sight of my friend's looking so obviously in love, even if they refuse to accept it till now.

One thing I have realized is that I love seeing people in love, it warms my heart in a way that has never happened before. Previously, I used to be resentful and jealous

My eyes dart to Delilah as she sits gracefully on the couch near Emily's bed, her posture relaxed yet attentive. Cradled in her arms is the tiny baby girl, a fragile bundle wrapped in a pastel blanket. Delilah's eyes are filled with a soft, tender warmth as she gazes down at the infant, her smile a gentle curve that seems to light up her entire face.

I sit next to her on the couch, making her eyes look up at me in excitement, she gestures to the little baby girl in her arms.

"She's so cute right?" She says excitedly, as she looks at me happily.

"Not more than you, baby." I couldn't resist the urge to flirt after seeing her adorable expression.

"Shut up, just look at her," She dismisses my words, making me chuckle softly as I look down at the baby girl properly.

As I look at my newborn niece (that's what she was, according to Damien and Emily.), I'm filled with a deep sense of tenderness. She's so small and fragile, wrapped in a blanket that looks too big for her tiny body. Her skin is a soft pink, and her tiny hands and feet are perfect. Her blonde hair looks like a tiny halo, and her closed eyes and long lashes makes her look so adorable and perfect.

I usually didn't like how newborn children looked, because they looked somewhat like lizards, textured, and kind of scary. But this little girl was definitely an exception.

"We decide on a name, fucking finally," Damien declares suddenly, his face lit up.

We all look and speak to him and Emily excitedly, waiting for him to tell the name for their baby girl.

Keziah.

Keziah. My eyes soften as I look at the baby girl again, who was now in Emily's arms and Damien sat next to them, gently consoling Emily who was crying happy tears.

The name was a perfect choice and just feels right for her. I'd been curious about what they'd choose, and now that I know, I can't wait to start calling her by her name. It's wild how something as simple as a name can make everything feel so real. I'm really looking forward to all the fun we'll have together and watching her grow into her new name.

And at that moment I realized, that this is my family too, and somehow, this found family is way better than my real blood father and relatives.

Delilah was looking at the baby so sweetly, and I couldn't help the train of my thoughts anymore.

I couldn't wait for Delilah to be a mother.
